We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anna Hsu. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anna below.
Alright, Anna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
“Who here doesn’t love themselves?”
This was the question that was asked to the group of 100 people at the workshop I was attending.
90% of the room raised their hand.
As I looked around the room, I saw that there were people from all walks of life there—wealthy business people, free-spirited hippies, young adults and teenagers, smiling faces, sullen faces, the whole spectrum of life.
But what surprised and deeply moved me the most was this:
Upon scanning the silent room of raised hands, my eyes fell upon an elderly woman around 80 years old. Her thin, frail arm was raised, shaking ever so slightly in the air, and her head was hung down in visible shame.
I felt a pang of sadness slice through my heart in that moment.
Can you imagine? Living your ENTIRE life not liking yourself? Living all 80 years of your life feeling like something’s wrong with you?
This was one of the pivotal moments in my coaching journey, because whenever I felt like giving up on my career, this memory would come to mind and reignite my passion and drive to keep going.
Because if I can help even just one person realize that they are INHERENTLY worthy as they are, that they DO deserve love because of their very existence, and that they are an incredible being regardless of what they’ve gone through, then it’s all worth it.
So often people fall for the trap that life has to change outside in order for them to be happy, and that they have to become a certain way or achieve a certain goal in order for them to be worthy.
How many times have you hit a goal, thinking “This is it, THIS is what will finally make me feel fulfilled and worthy!” only to feel empty yet again afterwards?
Because contrary to what society says, you’ll never find lasting fulfillment and self-worth outside of you.
The worthiness you seek ultimately comes from within—and actually, it’s already here. It always was, but somewhere along the journey of life, you lost sight of this truth.
That’s why I’m passionate about coaching—to see the faces of my clients light up in awe, and the tears of liberation roll down their cheeks when they realize that the joy and self-love they sought from outside for years was inside them all along.
When you realize that the source of your worth is within you, you become unstoppable. You no longer need external validation or achievements to feel worthy because you know that your worthiness is an inherent part of your being. And once you fully embody this truth, you experience a self-love so deep that no one can ever take it away from you.
My hope is that through my coaching, I can help you discover this truth for yourself and witness your transformation into the confident, self-loving, and empowered person you were always meant to be.
Anna, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a certified transformational coach, dedicated to helping people overcome the negative beliefs and patterns that are holding them back from living a fulfilling life. Through coaching, my clients achieve a lasting sense of authentic self-love and empowered self-worth. In addition to one-on-one coaching, I also offer speaking engagements and workshops for organizations on mental health and self-development. My life’s mission is to help create a world where people can thrive mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
I believe what sets my coaching apart in the industry is that my methodology is based in compassion and self-healing. I use a gentle yet extremely powerful approach to help individuals transform their lives. Many people avoid therapy and coaching due to the false belief that healing must be a difficult and painful process. However, my clients are consistently in awe of how soothed and empowered they feel after each session, and I always make sure they leave a session feeling at grounded and at peace.
My coaching methodology also encourages clients to tap into their inner strength and wisdom—this way, they can develop a deep sense of self-reliance and confidence in their ability to create positive change in their lives. By guiding clients to connect with their innate power and inner resources, I help them to cultivate a lasting sense of fulfillment and joy that doesn’t depend on external circumstances.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Through my years of coaching, I deeply believe that one of the most important, if not THE most important key to success as a coach is your presence. While training and knowledge are definitely valuable, what makes the most powerful impact is giving your clients your full presence, without any judgment or agenda. It’s about creating a safe, loving, and accepting space where people can feel seen and heard for who they truly are, without trying to fix or change them. I believe that this kind of presence is more powerful than any coaching strategy or technique you could learn. I recall a session where I didn’t say a single word, and gave my client full presence, letting her to simply be and process her emotions, and she said that was one of the most powerful sessions she ever experienced. Humans ultimately want to be seen and accepted for who they truly are, and to be seen as you are is one of the most healing experiences in the world.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe what helped me build my reputation within my market is my genuine desire to help people. One of the things I did to establish my reputation was to offer complimentary coaching sessions to people, with no expectation or attachment to any outcome. This not only helped me improve my coaching abilities, but it also gifted many people the experience of opening their minds and realizing for the first time that they are not the negative voice in their head. This created mutual respect and trust, which is essential in any coaching relationship. Additionally, word-of-mouth recommendations from satisfied clients have played a big role in growing my reputation. I’m grateful for the trust and support of my clients, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see them make progress and achieve their goals.
