Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anna Haddock. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Anna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I think the most valuable lesson when it comes to learning a craft is, progress over perfection. I did so much learning by taking any steps I could, rather than waiting to say yes only when I felt I had perfected a skill or was equipped enough. You truly do learn as you go! I love to say yes to as many opportunities as I can handle, because learning with hands-on practice and networking has helped me grow time and time again.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Anna Haddock (Photography account – @annakaitphoto / Blog- @annakhaddock over on IG if you want to follow along!) and I am a photographer and content creator based in Raleigh, NC. I got started in 2017, when I wanted to create a blog. I had no idea how it would evolve and little did I know I would grow a whole other business because of it!
I’ve been building my blog and social media for a few years now and you can find me partnering with brands I love and sharing all my food, coffee, and travels! Being successful with my own social media led me into a social media management position a few years ago and part of the job was weekly photography. Accepting this position when I didn’t know the most about taking photos proved to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I developed my skills and learned so much in my time there. After I left the company for another opportunity, many people who had met me in my previous role reached out asking if I still did photography. I started to take on my own photography gigs and am now doing it consistently! It has been amazing to see how what started small, has grown to reach many!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source for me is definitely social media! Connecting with others and consistently sharing your work is key for growth. Also, networking is NOT overrated. Meet everyone you can! You never know who may circle back into your life down the road with an opportunity.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
My biggest way of keeping in touch with clients is to continue to share my work featuring them and engage with their content as well. As a photographer, there are many moments my clients want photographed over the years and I hope to be the person they choose time and time again.
