Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anna Groos. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Anna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
I believe in going above and beyond for people, especially clients. I strive to give them a little more than expected to show them I appreciate them. Having clients come back year after year and ask me to capture moments for them is so fun!
I love to gift photo sessions. I believe that giving the gift of capturing memories for people is something I am honored to do. If I can gift a photo session to someone who might not normally be able to do a session, my job is complete. I want people to feel special and seen.
I also love to give back when I can. One of my longest clients, who have also become ‘framily’, is walking the journey of their daughter battling cancer for the second time. This year, I was able to donate a portion of my fall sessions to the Beat Childhood Cancer Foundation in their honor (and by their request). It has been a dream of mine to be able to feel comfortable enough to donate a portion of my proceeds to a foundation that means something to me. This year I was able to do that in someone’s honor and that makes it even better!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a natural light photographer. I strive to be able to offer services where everyone feels comfortable in front of the camera.
I do a lot of family portraits but also offer headshots, engagement photos, etc. I like to use natural light and do minimal editing to highlight natural beauty.
Keeping my prices affordable so it’s more realistic for everyone is one of my top priorities. Having memories with your whole family is special and everyone should feel like that is an opportunity for them.
Another priority for me is for my clients to feel comfortable during their photo session. The best compliment is when a client tells me how easy and natural the photo session felt!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media is so powerful for every business! Consistent posting, hashtags, showing your face, it all makes an impact.
Encouraging other to share your social media is also valuable. Word of mouth is still an important part of marketing!
Use your insights to your advantage and using post scheduling tools are both key as well.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth is by far the best source for new clients for me! When current clients share on Facebook community pages or have their photos hanging in their homes it starts conversation and creates that next step to client conversion.
