Alright, Anna & Ksenia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
We are childhood friends who used to share a school desk, both deeply passionate about healthy life choices from what we eat to what we put on our bodies. Unfortunately, we had some bad experiences with cosmetics claiming to be clean, which led us to join forces to create something meaningful. Our goal is to educate people about conscious self-care and develop a product that truly delivers on its promises while being safe for everyone to use.
The name “BUR BUR” is inspired by the burdock plant’s flower, known for its prickly burs that used to stick to anything we threw them at during our childhood play. This name holds sentimental value for us and reminds us of those carefree days.
BUR BUR’s origin lies in a family recipe passed down by our grandmother. As kids, we used it during our play “salon” sessions at home and later rediscovered its benefits for hair care in our adult lives. When our friends saw the impressive results, they began asking for the recipe too. Tired of constantly mixing DIY treatments at home, we decided to turn our passion into an entrepreneurial journey, aiming to fulfill our life’s mission.

Anna & Ksenia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Bur Bur is a clean hair care brand that is inspired by the transformative and healing powers of nature. Our formulas are carefully crafted with natural ingredients, including our hero ingredient, burdock plant. Burdock has been used for generations to promote hair growth and was introduced to us by our grandmother through her DIY burdock hair treatment. Her recipe served as the foundation for our formula, which combines burdock with other powerful botanicals, like nettle oil, vitamin C, bakuchiol, and plant-derived squalane to target hair wellness on a molecular level. Our hair oil formula is original, never tested on animals, and proudly made in California.
HOW IT STARTED
For over 2 years, we devoted ourselves to perfecting our formula, collaborating with numerous chemists, and experimenting with various combinations until it finally clicked. Prior to the launch, we reached out to over 50 influencers, seeking their honest reviews. While not everyone responded, the majority of the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with people loving our product and witnessing remarkable results. Through word of mouth and glowing reviews, our success steadily grew, eventually catching the attention of one of the biggest retailers in the US, Urban Outfitters, which brought us to new heights.
OUR MISSION
We believe that transforming hair and health naturally is a big contribution to creating a better future for ourselves and the planet. As hopeful optimists, we believe in growth, both as individuals and collectively. Each action we take is a seed we plant for a better tomorrow.
We are dedicated to being a catalyst for change by empowering consumers with knowledge and education on hair and overall wellness. With this knowledge as a driving force, we aim to shift the beauty industry towards a new ERA – one where healthy and sustainable products reign supreme.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
We pursued nano and micro influencers on a daily basis, while also crafting visually stunning and educational content that captivated both visually-oriented individuals and those seeking knowledge.

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
We currently sell our products through our website, burburcare.com, as well as partnering with several online retailers, including Urban Outfitters, Shen, LivehealthIllie, and more. Additionally, our products have been performing exceptionally well on Amazon. Looking ahead, our objective is to further extend our e-commerce presence across the US and international markets.
