Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ann Myra. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Ann thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I was thirteen years old looking at a Kandinsky painting at the Yale Art Gallery, New Haven Connecticut. I knew in my heart, mind and soul that I was meant to be an artist. No idea what kind at the time. But I felt a deep kinship to the painter.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Creativity knows no age. Waves, the ocean and music is my life. The message was clear. Ann Myra was meant to be a creative from a early age. At 4 years old I learned and played Suzuki method for violin with my Dad in the 70’s. I loved it. The time came when I grew and had to trade in for a larger violin. At the music store I was attracted to some pretty guitar picks. My Dad said “but that’s for a different instrument.” I didn’t care and begged him to get me 3 for .25. He did, believe it or not, I still have those picks to this day. So the teacher wanted me to go a protege route at age 8. My mom gave me the choice to play and practice hardcore or choose to be social with my friends. At that age I choose friends and quit the violin. In college at California Institute of the Arts countless hours were passed watching friends Eddie Ruscha and other bands practice or jam in studios. Not picking up a guitar myself until my mid 20’s then started to write a little bit of music.
So I worked my way through art school by working as a Barista at the Tatum Lounge and a Art Gallery in downtown LA 3 days a week. Graduated, worked for Joel Fitzpatrick’s company Pleasure Swell with director Michael Polish in 1992 also near the Brewery in downtown LA. Then moved to Paris to study the French Language and Civilization at the Sorbonne. It was supposed to be for 3 months but it ended up being 2 and a half years. I loved Paris. Always frequenting the amazing revival and art cinemas, concerts, from classical to jazz and everything in between. Enjoying when fellow Cal Artians came through and played a concert Ravi Coltrane. I was always delighted to say hello.Did some consulting for work a cd-rom company working with MIT programmers on Bi- Lingual games for kids. Viewing art, architecture and studying and enjoying Paris.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes I intend to make a sophomore album solo, possibly a collaboration with other artists.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes I am determined to make a decent living and become financially stable after nearly loosing my life in a sailing accident in 2018. I am avid outdoor activist, environmentalist keen for humans to ban together and save our home planet.
Dunya Merell Djordjevic and I started My Little Organic Garden in 2015. We used to install people’s organic gardens, we loved it. Then the Pandemic hit so we pivoted to the weekly My LOG podcast, now going on season 3. Where we discuss everything from motherhood, lifestyle, wellness and being a female entrepreneur in Los Angeles. We will soon be working on a cookbook and might possibly have some retreats available in 2024. We will see how the cookie crumbles
