Ankit, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

Have you ever wondered about what’s the top 5 best and unique designer handbags in the market currently ? Or maybe the very next day or even that day itself, you wonder to yourself, what’s a nice house warming gift you can get for your loved ones ? This is the goal behind Top Items List. It is to simply just be a centralized platform where followers can get quick information on recent trending services and products alike. Thus, Top Items List is not limited to just physical products, but also showcases various software, courses, online classes, and unique services.

The idea behind this mission is that I want people to be rest assured and not feel the need to frantically search for stuff online when they want to get something last minute. Hence, I wanted to create this account so that people can be up to date with various trendy items. There might be a lot of fear of missing out in society, and I wanted to help fill in those gaps as much as possible without narrowing down the audience.

Now, the goal behind this is not only to keep people up to date with what’s new in the market, but mainly what’s unique and “top”. The account should ideally give insights into different products by different vendors and companies. Such as, one day a post might be about a bow and arrow tracking set while another might be about how small business can make accounting payments using a new software and so on. Yes, this will definitely support me in driving traffic towards these various material. But I want to keep my niche a bit broader than usual. People tend to say with anything business related, you should form a specific niche and as narrow as possible. However, keeping it broad is a hopeful shot into the near growing future of digital and social media.

Just another day at my house, after work hours, I am sitting at my tan wood desk with my personal laptop. Sitting there and just thinking what can I do with my spare time. I look to the right to my second screen and see a random article about the top 7 designer handbags currently in fashion. It was intriguing to me because I saw a different post on Instagram awhile before about the top 5 cameras one should use for filmography and right below that post I remember seeing an “in-your-face” ad about the best life insurance you can get for your family. Then I laid back into my chair and thought to myself, what if I have all of this and similar information provided somewhere in a centralized platform ? A place where people can keep up to date with the trending products and services. That’s where it struck me, I immediately knew the name of the “brand” I will create to showcase these various trendy products and services, Top Items List. So, I created the initial website, https://topitemslist.wordpress.com/, for this idea.

Top Items List is what I want people to think about where they can go to find the craziest, unique, new, and interesting items in various industries. But why limit it to just finding those items, why not keep the followers updated at all times regularly? After giving it further thought, I had my second “aha” moment in realizing that’s exactly what Instagram can provide. So, I go to Instagram and create an account called, well, @topitemslist.

Even though this account was started back in spring 2021, it is still in its infancy days. It is still growing out there day to day and with more great opportunities like this Canvas Rebel interview, it will definitely support to boost the growth of the idea. We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

I slam my black spiral notebook down to my desk and frantically keep pressing the button of my dark blue pen thinking of ways to better manage my time. Working a 9-5 job and on top of that trying to work on a side -hustle after work hours can get tough and pretty brutal. I started to think of ways to grow my digital marketing skills, but it just got so tedious and I was starting to feel super burned out. So, I took a step back and thought to myself that if I take a break right before I am tired of going on an all out work streak, then I may just “never” feel burned out ? I went ahead and created a schedule for my side hustle that incorporated breaks . To my surprise, I was partially right. I started to feel less burned out. However, it did take a bit longer to accomplish things but in the bigger picture there were less gaps between progresses because I tackled each small task per day. I can’t completely take credit for this though, because I did get this idea of taking breaks before feeling fatigued in some YouTube videos.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.

Executing ideas can take time and while it may be scary, it shouldn’t scare people off entirely. Some people might not try something because they just don’t see the end result or they are told that XYZ is already in the market what are you doing differently? Even if you are not doing anything completely differently, I say its always a worthwhile to just start working on that idea. This way even if that idea fails to meet your expectation, then not only you won’t regret later but also you now know what to improve upon in your future execution or in your next brainstorming session. Top Items List, is still in its early days, and I could be going in the wrong direction and not “gain” anything monetizable. But at least I will have a couple years of experience in digital marketing. Even if its wrong or poorly executed, I will know next time how to fix it and overcome the hurdles I may have gotten stuck on for hours. In short, take that first step and keep at it.
