Hi ANJXLXE, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I always knew that I would pursue a creative path. I’ve had a deep love for music and art for as long as I can remember, and singing has always felt like second nature to me. From a young age, I also dabbled in designing clothing, aspiring to create my own collection of evening dresses. With my dad being a painter, my parents often took me to museums, where I gained a deeper appreciation for various forms of art.
The turning point that solidified my desire to create music happened when my mom showed me a recording of Michael Jackson’s Halftime Show at the Super Bowl. I can still vividly remember the feeling of awe — little stars practically twinkling in my eyes! I memorized the entire performance and began staging my own concerts in our living room. Taking numerous singing and dancing lessons, I eventually crossed paths with a producer from NYC when I was 15, one of my good friend’s uncle, who expressed interest in signing me and bringing me to work on music in the city. While the opportunity didn’t materialize due to many reasons, I now realize, knowing more about the music industry, it was for the best cuz I wasn’t fully prepared mentally.
All of this to say that singing, creating music, and engaging in other forms of artistic expression are essential to my well-being. Art has a healing power that I deeply cherish.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My artist/musician’s name is ANJXLXE, pronounced Anne Julie which is my real name.
I’m a Montreal-based multidisciplinary creative, a hybrid of art and entrepreneurship. I have a passion for music, marketing, content creation & creative direction. From social media strategist, to executive assistant in a corporate law firm, to music marketing & communications in a label, on top of releasing many projects as an independent singer-songwriter, I have a well-rounded understanding of many facets of the industry, and aim to share what I’ve learned through my journey with other creatives, while keeping on exploring new horizons. I’m constantly eager to learn and develop new talents and skill sets.
Growing up, I took a heavy dose of r&b-pop music from the 90’s/early2000 era. My vibe is very “beach walks at sunset hour, L.A meets St-Tropez, soothing but also very empowering”. Through my music, voice and aesthetics, I aim to make my community feel inspired to dream bigger, to follow their intuition, and keep striving to get what they wish for.
I founded this new project called Goal Rush, a creative online community + agency dedicated to developing talent, create ideas and artistpreneurship.

We eventually would like to curate live shows, workshops and provide mentorship & resources for creatives.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
When someone tells you that your song or voice has changed or healed them. Building connections and connect with a community of music lovers. New friendships with other artists and musicians around the world.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to make my community feel good about themselves. It becomes increasingly hard in the world to find pockets of joy, to allow ourselves to feel good – I want my music to become a vehicle for that much needed refuge. I want it to be soothing but also very empowering. I want to make people feel at their best. I want to bring a message of positive affirmation for my audience to feel confident, sexy, and vulnerable. I want them to feel inspired to dream, and dream bigger, to follow their intuition, and keep striving to get what they wish for.
With Goal Rush, my objective is to assist creatives in developing their talents, ideas, and entrepreneurial skills. I aim to connect the dots for them and provide all the necessary tools to achieve their goals and dreams. It’s a platform for artists, by artists.
