Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anjie Best. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Anjie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Since I was young, maybe around age 9 or 10- I’d always been into “creating content.” Whether it was photography, making short videos, or writing stories- I’ve always been a very creative person. Everything I’d ever had genuine interest in and pursued has been something that allows me to better exercise my creative ideas.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Anjie, I’m a social media influencer and content creator and I’ve been working with brands since around 2016. I started gaining popularity just by posting my photos on Tumblr around 2011/2012. In 2013 I moved to New York City for university and there I connected with many of my mutuals from Tumblr. We would do photoshoots and go to events in the city while constantly networking with other creatives.
Initially I wanted to model, but as I didn’t have the height and I was focusing on my studies, it just didn’t work out. Instead I just continued to post my pictures on Tumblr and eventually to Instagram where I began to catch the eyes of brands. Since then I’ve worked with over 100 brands on content both for my personal social profiles and user-generated content. Some of the brands I’ve worked with are: Netflix, Lyft, Puma, Sephora, Crunchyroll, Dyson, Zappos, Kilian, Megabus & Ulta. My list of previous clients I’ve worked with is something I’m incredibly proud of because these huge corporations not only noticed me in a sea of other talented creators but also saw the value in my content and chose to work with me.
I believe what sets me apart from others is how I incorporate all my passions into my content and don’t conform to the niches that creators are often boxed into in addition to my unique edits and content concepts. My Outfit Inspired by fashion videos, Y2K Style Dress Up Game videos, anime & sanrio hauls, and travel vlogs are among some of my best performering pieces of content.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing how people and brands receive the content I create. Over the years I’ve received some of the most heartfelt compliments and feedback on my content. Whether it’s inspiring someone to try a style or product, watch a show, or travel somewhere- knowing that my content is powerful enough to instill action in someone is so incredibly rewarding. Even if it’s just a simple share of my content with the 😍 emoji, it means the world to me knowing someone like it enough to share it with someone else.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I’m not sure if there’s really a science or “hacks” behind growing your following as it’s something I’ve always been able to do on any platform. However, one common denominator is that I’ve always been unapologetically myself and I believe your audience greatly values and appreciates that level of genuity. Even when algorithms try to box me in, I continue to diversify my content to fit my many passions because I am a multifaceted individual and I believe that’s something that attracts people to my page, in addition to my visually pleasing content. Ultimately, I would say be yourself and don’t be afraid to show off many sides of yourself. If you like fashion, make-up, tech, and cars- you should showcase them all through your content because you’re able to reach more people rather than just trying to target fashion. Even if some of your followers only care about cars or tech, they will grow to appreciate you and your tastes and still love the content you make even if it doesn’t necessarily align with their interests.
