We recently connected with Anjelica Lusco and have shared our conversation below.
Anjelica , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I came up with the name for my company after reflecting on what exactly it would take to achieve my goals. Being raised in a family of entrepreneurs I knew I would eventually come to creating mg own venture. In 2020 roughly two years after giving birth to my son I realized leaving a legacy in a creative way was my route. Leo’s Juice Co. was inspired by my now three soon to be four year old son
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Driven by passion, love, discipline, and support, five years after making the tough decision to take a leap of faith into entrepreneurship I feel like I’ve now hit that sweet spot. After years of experiencing adversity and failure, we now have a =n amazing team of skilled individuals to assist with the launch of our newest brand Leo’s Juice Co. A self-care, healthy lifestyle, and wellness brand. After years of studying holistic wellness, and with plenty of time to reflect during the quarantine in the year 2020 I picked up the skill of juicing and also decided to study for my personal trainer certification. With these two skills combined the seriousness of actually making the commitment to becoming a full-time entrepreneur as a new mom become my reality.
Now with more confidence and skill, I’ve been able to network within my city to grow our brand with returning clients, while being known as one of the best new cold-pressed juicing companies in the city of Lousiville. With mentorship from Garden Girl Foods, we were able to get our name out. With there are still many goals and aspirations to grow our brand, along with growing our own fresh ingredients to provide top-quality fresh food options for those seeking a friendly local family-owned brand and to also educate and become a local wellness resource. After one year of dedication and commitment, I have successfully completed the Change Today Change Tomorrow 2021 small business cohort, and now currently a participant in the AMPED RTBI program which has been a game changer for me as a business owner. Many have gotten to know us through our social media presence along with our community engagement from Farmers’ markets to the Melanarire Marketplace. With the year 2023 approaching there are many big things happening for Leo’s Juice Co. that we can’t wait to bring to the community.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I feel there have been several books that have positively impacted me as an entrepreneur. The power of the subconscious mind by Joesph Murphy, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, Rich dad poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter Vibrate Higher Daily by Lalah Delia, and How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie. Along with the wonderful impact of the youtube university as I like to call it where I discovered the juicing company JK juices who has inspired me and given me the push needed in the juicing industry.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
We’ve been blessed to have the wonderful tool of social media to build our online brand presence. It’s taken us roughly a year and a half to reach now almost 1,000 followers. Most of these are local with our brand model offering local delivery and in-person event services. My best advice for anyone wanting to build a genuine following is to be transparent, and consistent, and to study and actively engage with your audience. With an organic approach, we have gained new followers that have become our friends and partners.
