Anjali, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I first realized my desire to pursue a creative path professionally from a very early age. In my childhood, I was enchanted by the world of creativity, and its allure gently wrapped around my heart. The vibrant symphony of colors, shapes, and ideas danced before my young eyes, igniting my imagination. This fascination with the beauty around me and my continuous expression of thoughts began in childhood. My mother, recognizing my deep interest, became my guiding star, nurturing my passion with unwavering devotion.

From winning multiple awards in school drawing competitions to my constant search for anything creative, unique, and aesthetically appealing around me, my mother observed my insatiable hunger for the creative side. As time passed, I found myself drawing ever closer to the threshold of the creative field. This journey was guided by the love and unwavering support of my parents, who joyously witnessed the blossoming of my artistic endeavors with pride.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I was born and raised in the vibrant city of Mumbai, India; often referred to as the “city of dreams,” and it is here that my own world of dreams began to take shape.

Following the high school, I dedicated a year to honing my foundational skills before embarking on a challenging four-year journey pursuing my Bachelors in Applied Art & Craft.

As the saying goes, “Crazy is the price one pays for having an imagination,” and my story is no exception. From struggling to fully articulate my chosen career path to ultimately creating awe-inspiring experiences that leave people speechless, my journey was filled with numerous obstacles.

Working on sports applications for renowned cities like New York City, Boston ,Chicago, etc, I never once imagined that I would one day stand among them. Yet, here I am, having made my way to the United States and finding myself in a prestigious educational institution named Savannah College of Art & Design, Atlanta.

Through my studies, I have gained a profound understanding of the skills necessary to elevate user experience. The fusion of graphic design expertise has proven instrumental in shaping my proficiency in UI design. The combination of these two disciplines has enabled me to create impactful and visually appealing human experiences.

In terms of what I offer, I am a Multidisciplinary Creative who delivers graphic designs, communication designs, illustrations, type designs, Packaging design, Branding etc. I specialize in UI/UX Design. Whether it’s complex or challenging, I am dedicated to providing innovative solutions to my clients.

I take great pride in my achievements and the significant personal growth,I have experienced both in my work and as an individual. I would like to highlight one of my notable accomplishments, my undergraduate project titled “Kalamkari Letter Design.” This project has garnered immense appreciation and love on a global scale, and I am genuinely proud of its impact. Through this project, I not only gained recognition but also discovered aspects of myself that pushed the boundaries of my capabilities.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

Certainly, I’d love to share a story that holds a special place in my heart. During my final year of undergrad studies, I embarked on a project centered around Kalamkari Letter Design. In this endeavor, I meticulously crafted a complete set of 26 alphabets in uppercase, along with numerals and punctuation marks. It was a pre-pandemic venture, dating back to February 2020, and an exciting opportunity presented itself when I was invited to showcase this project at my college’s career fair. I was fortunate to receive accolades and awards for my work.

However, the pivotal moment occurred with the onset of the pandemic and the ensuing lockdown. During that time, a global creative event called “36 Days of Type” was in progress on Instagram. This event challenges artists from around the world to post daily alphabet and numeral designs in line with provided prompts. Given that I had already created the letter designs, I decided to participate in the competition and shared my work on Instagram in accordance with the prompts.

Months later, to my amazement, I received a direct message from Fonself on Instagram, informing me that I had been selected as one of the top 12 winners. They even conducted an interview with me and generously rewarded me with the Fontmaker plugin for Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. This recognition was a turning point in my creative journey and filled me with the confidence to participate in various national and international competitions, where I have been continuously bagging awards.

Even today, in 2023, I continue to receive immense love and appreciation for that particular project. It remains one of the most cherished endeavors of my career, not only for the awards and recognition it brought but also for the tremendous confidence it instilled in me. This experience, without a doubt, transformed my life and opened doors to incredible opportunities.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

Getting to this point in my professional journey was far from a smooth ride. I encountered a multitude of challenges, faced moments of doubt, and invested countless sleepless nights along with unwavering determination. The path to success demanded unwavering resilience and dedication. Like anyone else, I experienced periods of wavering motivation and encountered setbacks. Additionally, I grappled with personal challenges that are part and parcel of everyday life.

However, in the face of these hurdles, I’m grateful to have reached this juncture. Much of my strength and ability to persevere through adversity can be attributed to the incredible people who formed my support system during tough times. Their presence offered solace and assistance in alleviating the anxiety and stress that came my way.

Throughout this journey, a profound lesson I’ve learned is that failure is an indispensable component of the road to success. It’s through failures that we truly explore and expand our comfort zones.

One crucial message I’d like to impart to my readers is the significance of pursuing a career that resonates with your heart, one that nurtures the best version of yourself rather than causing unnecessary stress. Discovering your passion and aligning it with a fulfilling career path can contribute immensely to your personal well-being and overall success.
