Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aniyah. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Aniyah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I wanted something that felt like me, but also something that spoke directly to what I do. After playing around with so many ideas, I kept coming back to the fact that every time someone leaves my chair, they’ve been faced — enhanced, elevated, and confident. And since I put my personal touch on every client, “Faced by Naomi” just felt right.
FBN Skin Studio comes directly from the foundation of my brand, Faced by Naomi. I wanted to create a name that clearly connects to my original brand while highlighting the specialized focus on skincare. It felt like the perfect way to expand the brand while keeping everything cohesive and true to the core values of quality, care, and personalized service.

Aniyah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Aniyah Naomi — I’m a self-taught makeup artist, licensed esthetician, and the founder of Faced by Naomi and FBN Skin Studio. Through both brands, I offer a wide range of services including makeup, brow and lash enhancements, waxing, facials, and personalized 1-on-1 classes. At the core of everything I do is a simple mission: to help people feel confident, beautiful, and seen — whether they’re sitting in my chair, learning from me, or using one of my products.
I got into this industry because I’ve always been drawn to beauty as both an art form and a tool for empowerment. Growing up, I was fascinated watching my mother do her makeup, and that curiosity never left me. At 21, I started doing makeup for friends and family, and it didn’t take long for me to realize it was more than just a hobby — it was my purpose. What began as passion turned into a career built on skill, consistency, and truly caring about the people I work with.
After nearly four years of building my makeup brand, Faced by Naomi, I made the decision to enroll in esthetician school — and that’s when FBN Skin Studio was born. FBN stands for Faced by Naomi and this extension represents the skincare-focused side of my brand. I’ve now been a licensed esthetician for just under a year, and honestly, it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made for both my personal growth and the development of my brands as a whole.
Faced by Naomi and FBN Skin Studio both offer a wide range of services — and I’m always working to grow and elevate each one. Most recently, I’ve expanded into product development with the launch of my own beauty line, starting with lip glosses and with more on the way. On top of services, I pour a lot into education. My 1:1 classes are designed to give students real knowledge and hands-on practice, so they can feel confident whether they’re working on themselves or on clients.
What sets me apart is my attention to detail and my ability to create a customized experience for every client. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach — I take time to understand each person’s features, comfort level, and goals. I bring both skill and intention into everything I do, and I believe that’s what people feel when they work with me.
One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing how far I’ve come — from doing makeup in my parents’ living room to building a brand, teaching classes, launching products, and helping other artists grow. I built Faced by Naomi from the ground up, and I take pride in every part of it — because it’s built on authenticity, artistry, and connection.
At the end of the day, I want people to know that Faced by Naomi and FBN Skin Studio are more than just beauty brands — they’re spaces where artistry meets empowerment. Whether you’re booking a glam, taking a class, receiving a skin treatment, or supporting my product line, you’re experiencing something crafted with care, creativity, and genuine intention.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One important lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that I could please every client—and that every client is the right fit for me. Early on, I believed I needed to say yes to everyone, but I quickly realized that not every client aligns with my style, approach, or values—and that’s okay.
Now, I encourage everyone to do their research before booking any service. Finding the right service provider is about more than just convenience—it’s about connection, trust, and feeling confident that you’re in the right hands. When both client and artist are aligned, the experience is so much more rewarding for everyone involved.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
When I started my business, I was literally a third-year college student figuring it out as I went. After taking my very first client, I used the money I earned from that appointment to buy the products I needed for my next one. I still share this story with my 1:1 students all the time — building your business often starts small, reinvesting every dollar back into your craft and tools.
Back then, I would have clients send me selfies and inspiration pictures before their appointments to make sure I had the right shades and everything necessary to create their desired look. It’s all about being resourceful and intentional at the beginning.
