Hi Anita, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump into the story of starting your own firm – what should we know?
For a few years, I contemplated going out on my own while working for my family’s business, Vermaland, a notable land development company in Arizona. While working there, I noticed a lot of opportunity within the real estate industry for large developers and small investors to invest in land. After finalizing a large transaction, in June 2020, I decided to go out on my own and launch Arizona Land Consulting. My business concept was original and uniquely tailored – I was motivated to create a mechanism for small investors to participate.
In the process of creating my company, I had to first structure and identify the specific services I would offer, as well as hire the team. My biggest obstacle was deciding to go off on my own, and to separate from guaranteed income. Additionally with the start of any new business, I had to establish a set source of revenue and consistent clients. I solved these challenges by narrowing my niche, offering select services for specific areas and property types.
For my advice to younger professionals, I would advise you to identify exactly what it is you want to do. In the real estate industry, there are a lot of various areas and specialties – master the areas you want to operate in. I recommend establishing your mission and goals for the next five years and identify your big picture plan; that will help you get focused. When you’re starting out, pick your specialties and learn as much as you can.

I am a real estate developer and the CEO/Founder of Arizona Land Consulting, where we provide full concierge services for land seekers and developers of all types of sites and assists investors in discovering viable properties in the West Valley.

I am most proud of the amount of growth we have created over the years. From starting the company to now managing a billion dollar portfolio. We have been instrumental in large businesses coming to Arizona and the development of Phoenix, focusing on attracting companies that will positively affect the landscape.
Have you ever had to pivot?
We secured a 2,000 acre site, initially slated for 2,000 homes. While we were in the process of acquiring it, we were notified that we did not have the amount of water necessary to build the intended site, so we quickly pivoted and adjusted the use of the project. We convinced officials to allow us to develop a massive data center, creating high value for our investors.
