Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anita McLeod. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Anita thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I create transformative spaces where women can authentically connect with themselves and celebrate their inherent worth. Through boudoir photography, women’s empowerment portraiture, and my self-love community, I provide a sanctuary where women release societal expectations and rediscover their authentic power.
My approach centers on meeting women exactly where they are—honoring their experiences, celebrating their resilience, and nurturing their path toward unshakeable self-acceptance. In my studio and community spaces, I guide women through reconnection with forgotten aspects of their identity while building lasting confidence that extends far beyond our sessions together.
My work is rooted in the belief that when women feel genuinely seen and supported, they naturally step into their power with grace and unwavering self-love. Women leave not just with beautiful portraits, but with a renewed relationship with themselves—one built on acceptance, celebration, and the deep knowing of their own worth.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into photography and eventually found my way to wedding photography, but my path truly expanded when brides began requesting bridal boudoir sessions as gifts for their husbands. Witnessing how these sessions transformed women—helping them reconnect with themselves and discover confidence—showed me there was something powerful here beyond just wedding photography.
The services I provide span two passionate areas: I continue photographing weddings while also offering boudoir photography, women’s empowerment portraits, and fostering a self-love community from the private studio my husband and I built.
What I love helping clients with is celebrating exactly who they are right now. Whether someone is ready to embrace a new chapter, wants to honor their journey, or simply desires to see themselves through a lens of love and acceptance, I create experiences that remind women of their inherent beauty and strength.
What sets me apart is my wedding photography background, which taught me to capture authentic emotion and create comfortable environments—skills that translate perfectly into intimate empowerment work. I approach this as sacred work, serving as both photographer and safe space holder who understands the vulnerability involved.
What I’m most proud of is the lasting transformation I witness. Couples trust me with their most precious wedding moments, while women leave empowerment sessions with completely renewed relationships with themselves.
What I want potential clients to know is that whether you’re planning your wedding or ready to invest in yourself, you’ll find a judgment-free sanctuary where you’re celebrated exactly as you are. My work goes beyond creating beautiful images—it’s about honoring your story and creating lasting positive change in how you see yourself.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I love making people happy. I love showing women the back of the camera during a boudoir session and seeing their faces light up with those “oh my gosh that’s me, wow” moments. There’s something so fulfilling about capturing someone in a way they’ve never seen themselves before and watching that instant when they realize how beautiful they really are.
But it’s the same with weddings – those moments when I show a couple a sneak peek on the back of my camera and they get emotional seeing themselves in love, or when I capture that perfect candid moment they didn’t even know was happening. It’s not just about taking photos – it’s about creating these moments where people see themselves differently, whether it’s a woman falling in love with herself again or a couple seeing their love story frozen in time. That rush of capturing pure emotion and joy, whether it’s in my studio or on a wedding day – being able to freeze those feelings forever and give people tangible memories of their happiest moments, that’s what keeps me passionate about this work.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely. My goal is to help women see their worth and carry that confidence with them long after they leave my studio. My own self-love journey has really pushed me to do more and become more for the women I work with. I’m actually in the works of becoming a certified confidence coach because this has become such a passion of mine – showing women they can be confident and love themselves because they are beautiful.
Going through my own journey of learning to love and accept myself has made me realize how much women need this. We’re so hard on ourselves, and I want to change that. My photography is just one piece of it now. I want to expand what I can offer women, whether that’s through coaching, my self-love community, or just creating more spaces where women feel safe to be themselves. My mission is really about helping women realize they don’t need to wait until they lose weight or fix something about themselves to feel beautiful – they’re worthy of love and celebration exactly as they are right now.
I’m also not your traditional boudoir/women’s portrait photographer either. For me, boudoir and portraits aren’t all about lingerie – I’m constantly making new sets and having fun designing different concepts and themes. I love creating unique experiences that go beyond the typical boudoir or portrait shoot, whether that’s building custom backdrops or coming up with creative ideas that reflect each woman’s personality and story.
It’s become so much bigger than just a business for me. This work fills my soul because I know firsthand what it’s like to struggle with self-acceptance, and I know how life-changing it is when you finally start to see yourself with love instead of criticism.
