Anita, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.

My story in the field of medical aesthetics has been nothing short of miraculous. At age 40 I found myself in a dire situation as a single mom of two, with no formal education due to my upbringing in a high thought control group that did not allow or encourage women to receive an education. With very little resources aside from determination and fear, I started down the path of educating. myself on this thrilling industry. Having received a little help from friends and small investors, I attended laser school and purchased my first used machine. Over the last 8 years I have turned my practice into a passion project. I maintained my simple lifestyle and used every bit of profit to reinvest in continuing education and equipment, to the end result that my clinics today own and operate the latest state of the art technology in the Laser/Radio Frequency/EMS field available, and will continue to keep abreast of the latest trends in the industry. I am proud to say that my daughter was the first in our immediate family to graduate university with a double major and with honors and that my son is a Marine.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

LaserGirl Skincare offers solutions for everyone. We like to say we remove what you don’t like and preserve what you do. We do hair removal, hair restoration, acne treatments, removal of skin tags, warts and moles. We clear up sun damage and rosacea. We encourage people to age beautifully with multiple modalities for skin resurfacing, muscle stimulation and excellent skin care regimens. We contour the body and alleviate cellulite. We offer sexual rejuvenation treatments for both men and women which has been incredibly successful and rewarding. Our job is making our clients feel and look their best and grow their confidence and self-esteem. We aim to provide everything in the aesthetic market at approachable pricing so that clients can continue their self-care journey. We have trademarked our brand and have recently launched a hands-free homecare set branded as “EM-Youth”, making home care effective and easier than previous homeware devices.
Due to the enormous options in our clinics, we can resolve almost any skin care related issues, including skin laxity, sagging jowls and wrinkles. What sets us apart is our loving concern for each client and our customized approach to maximizing their results.
Additionally, LaserGirl has become certified as a board recognized Laser School… LaserGirl Skinstitute. It is our goal to provide opportunities for others, particularly those who may find themselves in a difficult situation such as mine to have a truly profitable career and future for themselves and their families.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

As previously mentioned, I was raised in a high thought control religion with very intense programming. Part of this programming involved a poverty mentality, as well as extreme views on pretty much everything. Not only did I have to deprogram myself, but start all over in the world without being confident that I could. As for the poverty mentality, at one point I sort of subconsciously came to the conclusion that I did not have the energy to be both afraid of making a living and wrapping my head around the somewhat frightening field I had chosen with the technologies. I made it my determination to be the best at what I am doing and that the money would come. It has.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?

100%. My daily job is so full of joy, making others feel wonderful. My clients are my dear friends and have filled my life with purpose and happiness. Throughout COVID, people became even more aware of the necessity of self care and I have been busier than ever.
