We were lucky to catch up with Anita Han recently and have shared our conversation below.
Anita, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
When design became my career, creativities have been following with my full-time living. Growing and learning from multiple majors and backgrounds, BA in industrial design, MA in interior design, MFA in interior design, and now most of my spare time, I like to illustrations in Procreate. As I mentioned, my major is interior design, and I work as an interior designer serving in commercial and residential interior design. The design is part of daily work and deals with colors and patterns, however, a large amount of work is about details and specifications these support design applications. The full-time work has given me large resources to archive a better design profession. Illustration is a hobby to develop as part of life. Both interior design and illustration have made me become a creative thinker.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As an international student who came to the US for higher education. Cultures and backgrounds are key to introducing me as I’m from East Asia, and somehow the artistic styles are merged with western and eastern. In interior design part, I always think cultural influence design is a cool part. When eastern taste design in the western world, feels like it is such an amazing combination.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The multiple majors in industrial design, interior design, and freelance illustration. Worked in the US and Eastern Asia. Traveled around many countries. These could be the treasured journey that make me become resilient to fit in with different cultures and backgrounds.
