Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anisha Bhasin Mukherjee & Jessica Floman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Anisha Bhasin Mukherjee & Jessica Floman, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Motherhood is arguably the hardest job in the world. Finding flattering, fashionable and quality clothes for all stages of a woman’s life shouldn’t have to be. We created Aniche because while we were pregnant, we were very frustrated with the existing fashion options. It felt wasteful to have to purchase maternity clothes, only to get rid of them after 9 months. Post partum, our bodies are still constantly changing and while wearing maternity clothes can make one feel self conscious, feeling pressured to squeeze into pre-pregnancy clothes is equally as stressful. We needed a collection of chic, elevated, yet attainable clothing that would fit our bodies before, during and after pregnancy. It didn’t exist so we made it and voila – Aniche was born! We meticulously designed each piece to fit a growing bump but nothing looks maternity at all. In fact, 60% of our customers aren’t pregnant and simply love the style and fit of our clothing. We chose timeless yet chic designs which could remain a part of a woman’s wardrobe for years if not decades to come.
Women struggle so much with their confidence in their everyday lives, gaining weight, losing weight, changing bodies and especially while pregnant and after having children. We wanted to ensure that they could look and feel their best in our pieces without compromising style or comfort. When we receive personal emails and messages from customers saying that one of our Marni sets gave them the confidence boost they needed while still at the hospital post delivery or that one of our dresses made them feel on top of the world at 8 months pregnant, we know we accomplished our dream and hope to only grow from here!

Anisha Bhasin Mukherjee & Jessica Floman, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Anisha and Jessica, two dear friends and moms, created Aniche to help women feel as confidence and stylish as possible throughout all stages of motherhood and beyond.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Sharing photos and stories from current customers who love our pieces and say they live in them! Whether nursing, running errands, dropping the kids at school, moms night our or date night, we love our customer feedback and photos and this organic, authentic method or marketing seems to resonate the most with potential customers.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Being our exact market was critical. Living and breathing motherhood daily and figuring out what types of clothing we needed for various moments in life was key in producing a collection that was practical yet felt like self care. I think the fact that us, as the founders, created the line mostly for ourselves and our friends and peers initially felt very genuine to our customers and almost makes them feel like each piece was hand picked for them. We took into consideration various body shapes and sizes and made sure every single piece would flatter all. Knowing our market by actually living it was essential to gaining our customer’s trust and loyalty.
