We were lucky to catch up with Anisha Angella recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Anisha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
As a little girl, I always wanted to be a teacher. After college and university, I went right into it and discovered my passion for early education. Often overlooked, early education is the foundation of our society and economy. While teaching, I also discovered another passion – empowering educators. I played many leadership roles in the ECE field, where my focus was empowering educators. Still, as we know, leadership has a scale of other responsibilities that leaves empowering educators to the sideline.
I went on to work in a corporate position in the early childhood space, where I had to be a senior leader – overseeing educators and other leaders. I started to love the role until the corporate world took over. I navigated the role and lost my voice. Being a woman of colour in a business where I was the only one, I was often overlooked and ignored. My ideas were never valued or appreciated. What was interesting is that I advocated for teacher/educator empowerment but was ignored. I got to a place where my passion for the field diminished going through the “ugly’ side of corporate.
COVID-19 hit, and I always share the story of wanting to branch out and start my own business. The day the country announced the closing of childcare centres across the province, I was the only one smiling because I knew my time was “now.”
Fast forward to today, I started my business, wrote a children’s book and topped my corporate salary in my business. All while being happy and doing what I love most – empowering educators to be the best they can be in the field of early education. The biggest joy is realizing that the same thing I pushed for (coaching and empowering educators) is solving one of the biggest problems in our industry – staff turnover and motivation. This business I’ve built is unique in its kind in the early education industry.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Understanding the power of my own authentic voice. I struggle with this even today – but have gotten better. After working in leadership spaces where I have been actively silenced, it was hard to really think that my voice had power. I would make suggestions that I knew were good… but was always told they weren’t.
Today as a business owner, my voice is my strongest asset (And my money maker) as I am am ece speaker and coach. My brand is all about empowering the voices of others in the field because I never want anyone to feel the way I did.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Define who you are – and show up as that person. People are looking to connect with people genuinely they relate to. Be real and speak about pain points and solutions your target audience wants to hear. Good content doesn’t count likes or views – good content makes people FEEL good, seen and heard.
Also, stepping out of your comfort zone is key!
