We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful A’nire Glenn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with A’nire below.
A’nire, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I always knew I was a creative person, and traveling showed me that I have the right to visit other places and engulf myself in the culture. I saw that we are all global citizens, and I wanted to be an authentic example. Hence, the name “Thee Global Creative” and intentional emphasis on THEE.
I crafted the name “Thee Global Creative” after traveling in 2018 for spring break to Dubai and South Africa, then in 2019, to Cuba. These two trips showed me that my theories about human connection and the dire need for travel and connecting with other cultures to ground ourselves as humans, amongst other epiphanies, were true.
From these experiences, I developed a sense of urgency to see the world as much as possible. Even without getting on a plane, having a cross-country trip, or leaving my apartment, I needed to breathe in different cultures via friends, YouTube, books, and wherever that exposure could be found.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a free spirit, traveler, writer, public speaker, and life-long student. I earned my bachelor’s degree in public relations from Florida A&M University and my master’s of science degree in professional communication with a concentration in integrated marketing communication from Florida State University. I have experience with digital content, tech and software recruiting, education, client relations, and more.
In 2022 I decided to leverage my marketing background with my passion for writing. I am currently a freelance writer and contracted writer with Emory Hospital, based in Atlanta, Georgia.
I love to craft short, medium, and long-form content that is intriguing, informative, and colorful. With such a broad spectrum of words and formations, I don’t think anything we consume should be boring or so overly complex that the average person can’t grasp it.
Resumes are more than basic or standard parts of an application. LinkedIn is more than a professional social network to flaunt executive positions. The right website content can get you the exposure you’ve been waiting for.
These tools and platforms are significant resources that help YOU shine. It can be the catalyst for advancing a career, title, location, or lifestyle. That’s why I’ve chosen to harness “the power of the tongue” and help clients by creating stellar resumes, LinkedIn pages, websites, and more.
Believing that words can change your life, I channel that energy into every word I write. Sometimes I coin and curate phrases and expressions for creative writing: utilizing my power in creation. After spending years as a writing tutor, student journalist, and communications professional, I’ve witnessed the power and light within many people.
I recognized that there was a need to help others magnify their talents, skills, experiences, abilities, and light that they already have within. With innovations such as remote work opportunities, or the phenomenon of online reach, I believe a floodgate of global opportunities has arrived not only for careers but for transformations in our daily lives. As we awaken, the inalienable truth illuminates that we are not stuck in one job, one profession, or even one location. It is our human right to be global creatives!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is to teach people about PEOPLE. I have a podcast, I Wasn’t Loud Enough The First Time, about staying inspired and finding people and things that can keep you inspired/motivated. I want to be the Grio who shares stories of victories so that we know we are not alone and can accomplish anything.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
With experience in public relations, it’s easy to become accustomed to fading in the background. I had to unlearn that. I had gotten used to sitting on calls, meetings, and events and being instructed to be seen and not heard. Or giving all of my ideas away to people who convinced me that it was necessary or that I wasn’t ready to be “client-facing.” After forging my path as a freelancer, it forced me to be direct. I’m a team of one, and I now enjoy and explore the freedom of being one-on-one with clients. I often have to remind myself that the only creative boundaries that exist are the ones I establish. This means no one is limiting me, I can go for the gold any time!
