Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
The SaaS Industry is highly competitive and rapidly evolving. Some of the biggest challenges that SaaS companies face in achieving profitability include:
Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC): The cost of acquiring new customers is often high, and it can be challenging to generate enough revenue from these customers to cover the acquisition costs.
Churn rate: Churn is the rate at which customers leave a service. High churn rates can make it difficult to sustain profitability, as companies must constantly acquire new customers to replace those who leave. Therefore, reducing churn rate is crucial to long-term profitability.
Pricing pressure: With the increasing competition in the SaaS industry, companies are under pressure to keep prices low. This can make it difficult to generate sufficient revenue to cover costs and achieve profitability.
Product differentiation: To stand out in a crowded market, SaaS companies must offer unique and differentiated products or services. Failure to do so can lead to increased competition and reduced profitability.
Cash flow management: SaaS companies often have high upfront costs to develop and market their products. Managing cash flow is crucial to ensure that these costs can be covered while waiting for revenue to come in.

ABOUT ME
Born and raised in a middle-class family in India, I fulfilled the expectations of a middle-class child by obtaining a good education, securing a well-paying job, and getting married. I thrived in the manufacturing and IT industry for over a decade with a focus on strategy and operations. Despite this, I felt unfulfilled and desired to work for myself. However, fear and responsibilities held me back from pursuing my dream.
In 2014, I felt a stronger urge to pursue my dream of starting a business. I carefully developed a plan starting with a self-assessment to identify my strengths and weaknesses. This led me to decide on a management consulting firm, given my expertise in strategy and operations. However, despite this milestone decision, I still lacked a concrete plan to make it happen. Quitting my job to pursue my dream was a significant decision, and with numerous commitments, I ultimately let it go.
In December 2014, my wife’s opportunity to move to Alberta, Canada meant quitting my job and starting anew in a foreign country. Despite the risks and doubts from colleagues, we decided to embrace the change. I became an independent business consultant, defining my target audience and leveraging my network for referrals. Though the road to success was bumpy, the recession struck, and we relocated to Colorado in 2016. Undeterred, I worked hard to secure small projects, building my confidence and affirming my path to success.
In less than a year of moving to Colorado, my family had to move again due to my wife’s job. We relocated to Austin, Texas in 2017, which was difficult for us emotionally and financially. Despite feeling stressed and exhausted, I focused on staying positive and rebuilding my confidence. I read inspiring stories, meditated, and listened to motivational podcasts to keep my spark alive. It took me over a year to build a solid business model and get certified in Strategic Management from Wharton. During this time, I heavily invested in building my brand to make my dream a reality.
In 2018, I took a significant step towards realizing my dream by registering BHA Consulting LLC in Austin, Texas. My company’s primary focus was to provide strategic and operational solutions to businesses in the information technology industry.
After years of hard work, endless setbacks, and doubts, I finally experienced a breakthrough that made all the struggles worth it. The day I received that call from a billion-dollar IT organization, offering me my first large project, was the day my heart swelled with pride and joy. Tears streamed down my face as I realized that I was finally on the right path. Starting my own business has been the most thrilling and rewarding journey of my life. I’ve faced challenges, failures, and moments of despair, but my unwavering dedication to my dreams has kept me going. While I have come a long way, there is still a vast road ahead, and I am eager to continue chasing my dreams with grit and determination.
As my experience grew, I recognized the need to narrow down my niche to better serve my clients. In 2022, I decided to shift my focus toward SaaS industries, where I could help businesses consistently increase profits. This decision has allowed me to utilize my expertise and provide more targeted solutions to my clients.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
As I reflect on my journey, one important lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that success is solely based on a linear path. Growing up in a middle-class family, I was taught that success meant getting a good education, securing a well-paying job, and following a traditional career path. However, as I pursued my dream of starting my own business, I quickly realized that success is not a straightforward journey.
I had to unlearn the belief that there is only one way to achieve success and embrace the idea that it can come from different directions. My journey was filled with unexpected twists and turns, from moving to a foreign country to facing setbacks and moments of despair.
Looking back, I realized that my journey to success was not a straight line, and that was okay. I had to let go of the pressure to follow a traditional career path and embrace the uncertainty and challenges that come with pursuing my dreams.
The backstory behind this lesson is rooted in my upbringing and cultural beliefs that success is a linear path. It was a difficult mindset to let go of, but it allowed me to embrace the unpredictable nature of entrepreneurship and pave my path to success on my terms.
