We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anicka Martin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anicka below.
Anicka, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
I started out on Etsy when I first began my business and let all my friends and family know I was starting a new endeavor with my products. It is where I received my first customer. I remember opening day and I had a sale within a few hours. I was overjoyed and could not wait to send out the package of my products. I called my mom, dad, and best friend and shared my story and joy. They were so happy for me following my dream. I remember thinking that I finally get to share my creations with people who needed them. Helping someone with a solution is very gratifying. My products focus on improving skin and hair quality for individuals. I was doing what brought me joy and providing an option to people who wanted and needed my products.
I enjoyed creating social media accounts on various platforms and researching trademarks to ensure I was guaranteed to stand out. Finding a niche was a big key to success. Getting my first sale was such an exciting experience. Utilizing various free platforms such as Facebook, Etsy,YouTube, and Instagram was a great way to begin on a budget. I got my first bulk order from Instagram and that was a big confidence booster. I did not even know the company knew I existed. It was so exciting to work with a fellow business to provide a product that served their customers and added value. People are watching and collaboration is such a big bonus when you can be introduced to a whole new customer base via business-to-business sales.
Being proactive worked for me. I reached out to the local papers and let them know I was launching a new business and they were so supportive. Seeing my article come out when I opened made my heart so happy. Sharing my passion with my community was a dream come true and since then we have provided products to people and businesses beyond Arizona.
I encourage anyone with a new business to share it with your community and to network with local media to get the word out. It is so important to both believe in yourself and also to do big actions that support that vision.
Get out of your comfort zone and make moves to achieve your goals. The sky is the limit.

“Me Time” is a big part of self-care and mental health. It means taking care of yourself so that you can thrive and enjoy your life to the fullest. It is about balance. All it takes is a moment. How you take that moment is up to you.
Eneka Elements is a Moment Movement. We often talk about self-care but rarely have time to do it. That changes today. The small things go a long way. Try a new foot massage routine before bed or a luxurious bath.
Our best-selling items include our Argan Oil-infused Golden Halo Serum and our Tea Tresses Rose Spray for hair and skin. Do you need a way to hydrate your skin and hair? Try Tea Tresses Rose Spray, it is made from Egyptian roses and is refreshing for dry skin and hair. If you are looking for a new moisturizer our Legendary Shea Whip is a great choice. It is a moisturizing solution to dry skin for the whole body.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Showing up consistently in my community and engaging in social media and networking with media resources. I met a lot of people by engaging in community spaces for example Archwood Exchange a local business that showcases products made in Phoenix. I made an impact through my social media platforms like Instagram and Youtube. Creating content that people enjoyed and found value in helped tremendously.
I showed up routinely to community hubs and reached out to local businesses that had a similar vision and used my networking with local media to get my product stories out. You have to be fearless and believe in your vision. Following through with my business plan and focusing on achieving specific goals was an asset for me.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Reaching out to local media presence was a game changer. Doing stories that let people know you exist makes a huge impact. Getting out into the community via vending or doing trade shows gets your product in front of real people. People were able to see my products and engage with me personally. Staying within my budget and letting people know I existed helped to give me an extra advantage. I used business cards, and social media to let my business speak for me even when I was not in the room with a potential customer.
I have done speaking events as well to engage with people and provide value through stories and my experience.
Always give value to your customers. I consistently express to never give up on your dreams as well. It takes hard work and consistency to become a trusted name. When you can provide quality products people come back and continue to spread the word about your business and products. It is all about returning customers and inspiring new customers as well.
