Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angie Soul. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Angie , appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
From the age of 11, I knew that I loved writing. However, although I loved writing, the thought of sharing my writing petrified me.
It wasn’t until I experienced the loss of my first child due to a missed miscarriage, that I decided to connect with others through my writing. It was completely out of my comfort zone but one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was 29 years old and after regularly journaling to cope with my grief, my blog Ang Meets Soul was born. Ang Meets Soul turned 3 years old as of April of this year.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
HR Manager by day, writer by night, dreamer by nature. But if you ask me, I am an artist first. With writing, I think it is beautiful that I am able to stir emotions in people by forming words together on a page.
My blog is catered to lifestyle. However, what sets my blog apart from others is my raw honesty and authenticity about the past traumas I have experienced in my life. I pride myself on being a survivor and truly believe that my resilience is unmatched.
I genuinely want to help others and provoke shared healing among the masses by sharing my stories of not only defeat but triumph as well. I create a narrative and provide a voice for many people who may be uncomfortable with openly discussing topics such as these.
It makes me proud to know that people have been positively impacted by my writing, even if it’s just one person. If I can make the world a better place in my own small way, then I have already achieved my end goal.
Outside my day job as an HR Manager, and when I am not focusing on my own personal blog, I offer writing services for any businesses in need.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I must say, this is definitely a work in progress for me. I am constantly going back to the ‘drawing board’ to see how I can grow my social media presence. But if I could give one piece of advice, it would be to…JUST BE YOURSELF!
Honestly, if you can find a way to market yourself as the brand, then anyone you come into contact with will be more inclined to invest in your brand. So in other words, you don’t have to create content when YOU become the content.
People want to feel connected to others, and social media provides the platform to do just this by allowing the opportunity to be real and unapologetic in your authenticity. People gravitate to anyone who they find relatable.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
If I can make one person, just one, feel less alone because they relate to my experiences, then I have done my job. I want people to feel they have found a friend in me. That my site is a safe space; a judgment-free zone. I want others to know that there is no shame in being vulnerable and that vulnerability does not equate weakness. For many people, there are skeletons in closets and demons being fought behind closed doors. I want to spread love and comradery. So here goes my official mission statement for not just my blog, but my life:
To provoke connectedness and healing for others by spreading kindness and authenticity through my writing.
