We were lucky to catch up with Angie Maserati recently and have shared our conversation below.
Angie, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I was very young, probably 4 years old when I remember performing for family and feeling the joy it created in both them and myself. That moment created a curiosity and had me falling in love with this gift of mine! It sparked the dream and the dream was learning all about the voice and becoming a professional singer. I guess my dream came true! The dream when younger, when I was free of responsibility and full of naivety was to hit the road and tour the world! I had no idea what that actually required! The dream changed over time when realizing that I love my freedom! I love making my own creative choices and having balance in my life! I have three bands; my original music, a top 40 band and a disco band. Having control over my schedule and life keeps performing romantic and my happy place. I look forward to every show like the gift that it is! I am open to new musical experiences, new projects, and definitely singing whenever and wherever I can! It is a thrill. I performed in Italy this July, totally a vision board manifesto! It was better than I had even imagined ! I want more of that! Did I mention how much I loved it?! I met several musicians while I was there and future opportunities are in the works!

Angie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I feel the passion for singing and performing were born part of me. Music literally comes from inside of you! You have to feel it; feel the beat , feel the mood. feel the emotion, feel it become audible. You play music. I love to play and I love to feel! I love(d) the feeling of getting “lost” in the music. Music is transcendent and I wanted to learn why. I wanted to share that experience with people. My love of singing has completely shaped every part of my life. I got into the industry of public performance as a teen. I would get very nervous because I didn’t master the skills yet. I hoped I would hit the notes as it wasn’t yet a guarantee. I didn’t like feeling unsure, so I changed that through learning. Firstly learning about my voice; how it works and very importantly how to keep it healthy for a lifetime. Like anything that we want to do with confidence, we must give it hours of practice and then practice some more. It is impossible to insert feeling into the performance until the skills becomes automatic and the focus can fully be on the story and the emotion. For me as a performer feeling and expressing are the most important parts. My advice is to seek the best vocal and performance coaches and study with them, and find your own voice. Always be open to learning, it’s exciting!
I think about music as something that comes from the ethereal and channels through me. I get to make it tangible and share it. My gift to share, and my contribution to life. Sharing it is the greatest feeling! I am blessed to have experienced it thousands of times!
As a songwriter I must write songs that feel good to my soul. If I am going into an emotional space thousands of times; I need to like the way it feels. I have experienced the entire gambit of emotions in my life of course, and it seems I get mostly inspired by the good ones. I have also written several songs about all humans loving one another and creating a peaceful planet. I DO have something to say. My songs feel good and uplift, they are fun and romantic. I have a vision for my music to be placed in romantic comedy movies and television. That is my next goal and it will be such a thrill when it happens.
I have 19 originals released and streaming on all platforms including an album titled ” Love”. I have also created several music videos! I have filmed in NYC, Milan, Rome and more! They can be enjoyed on my official YouTube channel. Learning to edit and take the story into my hands and showcase who I am was really fun too!

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
From my own perspective and my own experience the depth of fulfillment is more about aligning with the calling of the soul. Honoring our creative inspirations is a must. I recognize pursuing careers and a financial path are important too. I was in the dental field for 25 years and it blessed me greatly. It doesn’t have to be all or none. I have met so many men and woman that tell me they ; used to sing, play an instrument, dance or paint, but they had kids or got married and believe it is impossible or selfish to continue . If this belief could be diminished the world would be a happier place. One happy person makes the world a happier place and the opposite true as well. I believe at the end of lives contentment and peace will come from honoring what feels genuinely meaningful to us. For me it’s connections with earthlings and mama earth, personal growth and creating music! These leave my cup overflowing. Life is beautiful when you go towards your joy!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A lyric from my song “Why” says it all; “Time has passed by so quickly, I hope that you know. You’ve been number one in my heart, hope that it shows. My spirit told me keep believing wouldn’t let me let go. And when life brought me mountains and valleys couldn’t give up no matter how tough. All I had to do was look into your eyes, because they’d always tell me I was enough.” The eyes in which I speak of are those who have journey’d with me along the way, understanding that it is the journey of my soul and my calling, and it matters. My sister is my person and my number one fan. Even after sharing a room with me into high school and listening to years of me trying to hit Whitney Houston notes before I knew how she supports and believes. That’s love! As a mom of three it is important for me to example honoring the dream and making time for my gift to my kids. No one else can do it for you. A story is written one letter at a time. Keep believing!
