Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angie Dumas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation; we’ve shared it below.
Angie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
Social Media is something that I love and hate. I love it because it helps to get the word out to many more people than you could reach by word of mouth. I also love seeing all the variety of content that other creators like myself create. I hate it because it’s a lot of work. Sometimes you can create amazing content and the post will flop. I manage my own pages, but I am getting to the place where it may be time to hire someone to do it. I have begun teaching my daughter some things about the social media side of things. I may turn that over to her at some point. It would really lighten my load and allow me to focus just on the content creating.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I am a blogger, content creator, food writer (restaurant reviews), travel writer, recipe developer, family inspirer, fashion enthusiast and I have a strong belief in Faith. So basically, a Lifestyle Blogger. My business has evolved over the last few years. Plus, the pandemic has forced me to make some changes.
I work with lots of brands from kitchen products, kitchenware, fashion, product reviews, recipe creating and so much more now. When I first started it was all about Restaurant Reviews.
I love creating recipes that are family friendly. I also love sharing about mom-and-pop restaurants that are just starting out or who have been around for a while. In addition, I love a good fine dining experience.
There are many layers that make up who Da’Stylish Foodie is.
One of the main things I want my readers, followers, and potential collaborators to know about me is that I am authentic. I will always be true to who I am. I don’t follow the crowd or do what everyone is doing. I will always be original and unique.
Traveling is one of my passions. I love to travel. Traveling is a way I refresh and rejuvenate myself. There is just something about a short getaway that renews something within me.
Da’Stylish Foodie is also a place you can come for inspiration and encouragement.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
About 3 ½ years ago, I was just a food writer/restaurant reviewer in Lafayette, LA when my husband’s job moved us to Texas. That was probably one of the hardest things in my life and career to go through.
I was already an established blogger and magazine writer in Louisiana. I was the top blogger in Lafayette and one of the top in Louisiana overall. I was well known in Louisiana.
The thought having to move to a new state was hard. That meant I would have to start all over again. I was scared, frightened and very unsure. But I didn’t have time to really think about that. I had to prepare to move my entire family, leave our extended family and friends to move to a state where we knew no one. I was more worried about how our kids would adjust. They were leaving their schools and friends.
But we made the decision to do it. For about a year, I didn’t do any restaurant reviews and very few blog post. Texas is huge and it was a big adjustment to move here. Eventually I felt like we had a routine, so I started venturing out a little checking out the restaurants. I also shifted to more recipes. Which is something I didn’t do a whole lot of before we moved.
I cooked a lot, but I didn’t share recipes on the blog. This shift after we moved to Texas would catapult me in a way I never imagined.
Then the Pandemic hit which meant, there were no restaurant reviews because the majority were closed for a while.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I have lots of goals, but one is to write several books that will be a part of the brand I am building. As well as a Travel and Food Writer that writes for many big magazines and websites.
I also want to leave a legacy for my kids to continue and be proud of.
