We were lucky to catch up with Angelo Reyes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Angelo, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I think the first time that I knew I wanted to be a creative was when I was in elementary school, I think? I can’t remember what grade I was in, but there was this iPhone game that I used to play which was about solving mysteries. I had gotten this urge to pull my friends and cousins together with a cheap camcorder that I was gifted and to create, not one, but two movies.
The movie that I created was called “The Missing Case” and essentially it was about two detectives attempting to solve a mystery with surprises that arose along the way while navigating relationships with colleagues and potential suspects. After creating “The Missing Case”, I ended up making “The Missing Case 2” which was the ending for the series.
This would probably be one of the reasons why I am so into videography and taking videos.
Growing up, I also had an appreciation for the arts. I loved going to art museums and still do so, today. My sister was an artist and used to paint, pretty sure this is where I get my creative element from. Art allows us to express how we’re feeling. I took some art classes in the past and they were enjoyable.
I would also say that I have always been an individual to document memories through photography. I want to be able to look back years from now and view all the memories that I had with friends and those no longer in my life. I’ve always been into photography, especially film photography. I think currently photography and content creation are the two elements of creativity that I am tapping into the most.
Angelo, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Angelo. I am a creative, a content creator, and an entrepreneur. I create videos for brands to promote their products, I create social media content, and I sell products online.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I think the biggest thing to remember during a creative journey is that you are going to have your ups and downs. It is not going to be perfect, but that it the thing that makes the journey of being a creative great. You learn from your mistakes which helps with one’s craft.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
There are an abundance of resources that one can come across online, one just needs to do their research. Especially as a creative, one should be utilizing TikTok for inspo, but also to use as a resource since there are so many gems that provide valuable information on TikTok.
