Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angelita Ponce . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Angelita , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s talk about innovation. What’s the most innovative thing you’ve done in your career?
learn (ing) how to run my massage business. from having no set prices, to creating a price list, now i’ll go to network gatherings, bounce ideas off other business owners or simply take notes when i hear something that i can utilize for my own. i didn’t start where im currently at, it took trial and error to see what worked for me. im still learning what’s going to help me grow and expand.
i made the decision to pick a price, that’s worth my value and let it be that.
not everyone will be able to use my services and that’s okay.
the ones who do are loyal and those are the kind of customers i like to have. although, because i have set prices-
im allowed to give discounts or specials throughout any month of the year if i choose.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The self fulfillment I get after each client gets off my table and express utter bliss is what keeps me loving what i do for a living. My business is called Mindful Method Massage because i am mindful about the method i approach any of my clients with massage. Every body is different and some require different work. But i can literally work on any body type, gender or age and know that they will feel completely relaxed or relieved after receiving therapy from me.
I got into massage completely by accident, but i wouldn’t change it at all! I love what i do and do what i love + it taught me selfcare and better awareness of my own physique.
How did you build your audience on social media?
im actually currently building my social media. the way that im doing so at the moment is holding a raffle for my active clients who are following the page.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
covid happened and a raise didn’t (or hasn’t) i went from being full time at a chiropractic office doing massage, about 20hrs a week or about 40biweekly to 11hrs a week or about 22hrs biweekly. it was nerve-racking thinking of going from something guaranteed to banking on myself, but I’ve learned to manage my schedule so we’ll that im now there part-time & work for myself the rest of the time.
my personal booking days are typically tues, weds, fridays & sat.
i have the ability to book my own clients on the days i have available and run things the way i choose to with my mobile massage business, while still keeping the professional establishment and the perks i have open to me.
key milestones: selling 2-20hour blocks to 2 different clients. i was a little strapped for cash around the holidays & got the idea to make a particular special for a certain client (i have tiers;clients who buy monthly, biweekly, sporadically, snowbirds etc)
and this client i did a special for, happens to book monthly…
well they liked my black friday special so much that they purchased a block for $1000+ on top of another personal client doing the same thing.
it was a blessed month november!
