Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angelina Rosario. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Angelina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
In 2016 an unusual tumor began to take over the right side of my face, quickly growing to the size of a baseball. I had 30 days from the diagnosis until my face would be permanently deformed, and I could never speak again. They had to remove 5 teeth as well as bone, and nerve from the right side of my hip to place it in my mouth. I was unable to speak or walk for months. This began an unexpected, painful, and isolating 4-year journey of mouth reconstruction, with no guarantee of positive results.
While in ICU with tubes in my mouth and not being able to use the restroom on my own, I stared at the ceiling and started visualizing myself healed. A few minutes after doing the exercise, I felt a sense of negative emotions released, and that’s when my curiosity began to arouse. I told God if he would help me overcome this incredibly painful season that I would help others who are hurting overcome challenges and discover their purpose.
And I did just that…
It started with my social media handles, where I posted my journey, all the good and ugly, and I mean really raw images of my face. I would post pictures that would have friends texting me, “my friend, you shouldn’t post pictures of your face like that,” but I wanted to share my story to let my community know that trials and tribulations happen to all of us. So in a world that can be very superficial and vain, I took a different approach and took people along my journey.
I then decided to turn my pain into purpose and wrote a book called Thank You for Walking Away and created the 5×5 Success Habits. I knew undertaking this new mission would come with many pushbacks, criticism, and questioning of my priorities. My job would be asking about my motives, and I was going against what a typical corporate person should be doing (putting all their energy in that one place). However, I felt the opposite and was willing to pay the cost of following my inner guidance and moving forward with what I felt was turning my pain into victory.
I have learned that there’s no real fulfilling of one’s purpose in life without taking risks. It’s part of being the best version of yourself. Risk is part of the territory of becoming “GREATNESS.”
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am sales leader, certified ICF coach, author, and speaker. My motto is “turn pain into purpose”. Soon after I conducted hundreds of hours of research and personal experience, The 5 X 5 is a tool anyone can use to move forward, particularly when life feels out of control, or one feels stuck. These 5 steps take only 25 minutes. When repeated daily each morning with consistency, they can interrupt negative patterns and allow for change to take place, making resilience a habit. Even if you start with only 1 or 2 of the methods a person will see the payoffs. I still implement these strategies every morning because I’ve seen how much I’ve been able to achieve and also helped me to use every setback as a comeback. I’ve also incorporated the method into my corporate leadership strategies . It’s been a challenging three years, however we’ve mastered how to turn pain into victory.
I’ve influenced thousands of people by teaching them that applying 5 X5 5 Success Habits to trials, setbacks, and fears is a secret weapon to overcoming any challenge and becoming the best version of themselves.
With my miraculous recovery as proof, The 5 X 5 is a method anyone can use to engineer what what’s next for them. Taking 25 minutes every day to do the 5 X 5 will help reprogram your brain to have a positive perspective as we press forward with “What’s Next.” This is what I want to share with everyone to make the potential to overcome impossible odds available to everybody- 5 minutes of Inspiration, 5 minutes of Visualization, 5 minutes of Journaling, 5 minutes of Meditation, 5 Minutes of Affirmations.
Anyone ready to step into the “What’s Next” can use The 5 X 5 to overcome any of life’s trials and make resilience a habit. 5 X 5 is now a tool that I use in every aspect of my life. It’s simple and meant for the masses to understand, rather than a particular group of people.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I didn’t realize that the journey would take 4 long years, 4 extensive surgeries, and four years with a mask before a mask “became a thing.” It felt as if every doctor’s diagnosis was getting worse and worse, so I decided to hear what the doctors were saying, but I didn’t allow it to resonate in my soul. I believe I was able to overcome one of my most painful seasons because I made up my mind that I would. Was it hard? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. Resiliency is what builds character.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Our thoughts and outlook in every perspective determine how successful one can be. As a leader, you have to see the bright future, but how can a leader see it if their outlook is gloomy. When a team sees our optimism and hope in the good and during challenging times, it gives them strength and faith to also believe in the impossible no matter what comes their way.
