We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Angelina Grevi. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Angelina below.
Angelina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My dad and my grandmother raised me on their own throughout most of my adolescent life. No matter what career I wanted to pursue as a kid: scientist, painter, clothing designer, they supported me 110% with gifts and activities to stimulate my interest. When I wanted to be a scientist, my grandmother bought me a lab coat with my name embroidered on it, and my dad purchased a monthly subscription of science activities to engage with over the summer. My switch to the arts transformed my room into a studio, filled with paints, canvases, and completed pieces all around the walls. With every passion came unwavering support for creativity from my family. This continued into high school and college, aligning with my decision to pursue multimedia creation.
My dad came to my first collegiate football game as a photographer. He attended basketball, lacrosse, softball, and every other game he could to support his daughter. There’s no one else in my life who shows up for me quite like my dad, and I’m forever grateful to have him in my corner.
Dad, you’re amazing in the ways you’re you. You never fail to put a smile on my face when I need it or take me out to lunch when I could use some air. Maybe one day you’ll be watching me with the Bronx Bombers from behind home plate- on me.

Angelina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi! My name is Angelina ‘Angie’ Grevi. I’m from Syracuse, NY, and a rising sophomore at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School for photojournalism. I’m also a 2024-2025 Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar.
I started my career in media back in my junior year of high school with coverage of my varsity athletics teams. Since then, I’ve branched out into different communications & content creation fields. I currently hold two positions, one as a marketing assistant for Syracuse University’s InclusiveU program and another as an independent freelancer providing photo, video, and graphic design services to various clients. When I’m not in class learning new skills, I’m utilizing my current ones to provide my freelance services to clients. From private family photo shoots to community event coverage, I dedicate my work to audiences big and small.
I’m most proud of where I am in my career. It’s been over two years since I began photographing professionally, and I’ve already fostered relationships for positive change across the state of NY. If this is where I am after over two years, I’m excited to see what I create in five, ten, even twenty years.
To my current clients and supporters, it’s an honor to know you all and continue to work in the Syracuse community. To the future, which remains unsure, I can’t wait to meet you.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Every finished project means a smile on a client’s face. Every compliment and expression of gratitude from my clients pushes me to continue my work for them in the future. This is especially true for my work involving students and education, because if just one student takes that chance in school or feels represented in their community after seeing my work, then the job is well done.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
There’s one video essay on YouTube that I can’t recommend enough to young, aspiring creators. Defunctland’s video essay about the Disney Channel theme/jingle is a beautiful story about legacy and the journey one takes in content creation.
I won’t spoil the video, but for the students out there who aren’t sure if they’ll break through the mold, give it a watch.
