We recently connected with Angelina Duplisea and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Angelina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
It’s kind of cliche but my entire career is a risk. Typically, people my age(51) and size (26/28)aren’t pulled for many projects, let alone the high profile ones that I’ve been blessed to work on.

Angelina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Angelina Duplisea and I’m a plus size model/actress. I moved to L.A. in 2007 and at that time I hadn’t really given a lot of thought towards being in the business even though I had a couple of credits from parts I did while living in Seattle. My first few yrs I worked for attorneys in century city(lord what a roller-coaster that was) and then I kept stumbling into roles and modeling opportunities. I’ve worked with some very high profile people in film and television and the photos I’ve modeled for have won awards and been feature in Vogue Portugal, Vogue Greece as well as in galleries and museums like MOCA Bangkok.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
No matter how breathtaking you think your art is, not everyone will see it as such. I absolutely adore the fine art created with the photographers who see me and my body as art to be admired rather than something to be exploited. Sadly not everyone agrees and are ardently vicious whenever they see the work posted on social media. In the beginning it was hurtful and now I just chalk it up to people with little to no emotional intelligence throwing public temper tantrums- It’s not my problem

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Well, I’m sort of going thru it now. I’ve had uterine fibroids for the last 7 years. They’ve caused an incredible amount of dysfunction in my life including heavy bleeding that nearly killed me in 2020. I wasn’t able to work as much and was lucky that the people I did manage to create with were sympathetic to my situation. I had a full hysterectomy in February of this year and am now looking to return to the creative business that I love so much
