SubscribeWe’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Angelica Van. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Angelica below.
Angelica, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
When I was in esthetician school, having my own spa was just a dream. Over time, it became frustrating as my classmates began to give names to their future businesses and I had yet to land on one. It was almost like I couldn’t enjoy the experience without thinking on what would be next for me.
I’m really big on manifestation and the law of attraction, so I knew having a name would make everything more real. It would give me a real goal, something to work towards, and make me grind harder.
At one point, I was so focused on choosing a name that ideas weren’t coming organically. Then one day while casually blabbing about my dream spa and how it would feel — it came to me. In my mind I was there, in a full service spa and wellness center that was more of a club. A group that people would want to join, where they felt comfortable and pampered. The Pampered Club.
That large scale vision is what continues to propel me as I lay the foundation for my brand. Stay tuned!

Angelica, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Angelica Van and I was born and raised in the Bay Area, CA. I come from an entrepreneurial and very hard working family, so it’s all I know! At 17 years old I got my first job at my god-sister’s upscale salon where she offered hair and skin care services. As the receptionist, her salon is where I really evolved, learned my business skills, and how to be hospitable to our clientele. She employed several cosmetologists who enjoyed doing hair, and had a lot of fun, but it was always the calmness of the esthetician and her clients that appealed to me. Following their services, her clients would always look so refreshed and light when they essentially floated out of her treatment room.
Fast forward to the next year, I moved down to Los Angeles for college and entered the Fashion Industry. I loved my career, but in the back of my mind, I always wanted to enter the world of skin care. In 2019 I finally took the plunge and worked my full time job as the Director of Merchandising by day, and attended esthetician school at night. Although the days were long, it was the best decision I could’ve made for myself.
My new venture into skin care has made me the happiest and most fulfilled I’ve been in life. What makes me most proud of what I do is seeing how I’m able to transform my clients not only physically with the health of their skin, but mentally as well with increased confidence and skincare knowledge to take home. I secretly get emotional at times when my clients share how special their time spent at The Pampered Club is. I always want my clients to know how appreciated they are, so when they feel it, it’s big to me.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The best source of gaining clients has actually been social media and client referrals! I’ve always wanted my business to be centered around results and client experience.
When my clients walk in I make sure to provide a nice comfortable vibe for them. I want the 60-90 minutes we spend together to be an escape from life. Upon entry they’re met with a unique greeting that reads their name, the room is warm and smells amazing, refreshments are ready and available, and I ask for their music preference. I want this their experience to be something they want to tell everyone about!
During the treatment I’ll snap some photos or record video as memento for them, and also for my social media. I take the overall presentation of The Pampered Club very seriously. I’d like for anyone who comes across my instagram page to feel the inviting setting, and want to come see what it’s about. So far, it’s worked and I’m so thankful!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being genuine and knowledgeable has helped build my reputation. Being kind and sincere is crucial, and never overpromise and underdeliver! Also, punctuality, being responsive, and a clean treatment room always :)
