We were lucky to catch up with Angelica Artifex recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Angelica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
My music is my most meaningful work, music is what fulfills my soul. I’m now coming to understand why things in my life has turned they way they are, I’ve gathered so much more knowledge now than back then, and the life experiences has strengthen me and the music I’m creating now. my music is more grounded and truthful to myself.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Angelica Artifex is seamlessly blending her Swedish upbringing with her rich Cuban heritage. Born and raised in Sweden, Angelica was immersed in a multicultural home where the artistry of Cuban musicians and vibrant dance rhythms were a constant presence. Spending countless hours backstage, she watched renowned Cuban artists perform, soaking in the rich musical traditions that would shape her own sound.
By the age of 12, Angelica Artifex was already making waves, recording in studios and performing at jazz festivals in Sweden.
Her talent was undeniable, and it wasn’t long before she found herself collaborating with R&B singer Frankie J.
Her journey has taken her from modeling and acting in the fashion capital of Milan to pursuing her music career full throttle
in Los Angeles. Now splitting her time between the U.S. and Europe, Angelica Artifex is in a constant state of evolution, redefining what it means to be an artist.
I’m proud of my latest song “Good to be Alive”, that is the second single release this year.
“Good to Be Alive” is all about celebrating life’s simple pleasures.
The track features a dreamy, euphoric sound that captures the essence of joy. With its flowing melodies and gentle Caribbean rhythms, the song creates a meditative, almost transcendent atmosphere that invites listeners to slow down and savor the moment. John Valentino’s live saxophone adds a rich, warm layer to the track, blending seamlessly with Angelica Artifex’s vocals to create a soundscape that is both uplifting and calming. It’s a perfect mix of energy and tranquility, making “Good to Be Alive” a song to enjoy whether you’re dancing or just relaxing.
I hope the audience enjoy the song as much as I do. “Good to be Alive” is now available on all music platforms.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
This might sound cliche but, the old wise saying ‘Listen to your gut, because it will speak to you’, its a lesson I wished I had applied earlier in my carrier. Listening to advice from people in general is important, it’s good to get different perspectives in a situation, but it is also very important to become best friends with your gut, your inner voice. Advice from different resource can miss lead sometimes and end up confusing you. I take with me the advice that serves me and leave the advice that dosent fit in my path.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
“The Art of War”, by the Chinese general Sun Tzu. Yes, the book is about war, but it also contains a lot of wisdom that fits in the modern time entrepreneurship. For example, it talks about diplomacy first to avoid any type of war or conflict, and it talks about strategies, psychology, obtaining resilience and patience ( I think these are some tools we need as creatives and humans to maneuver life in general), it also mentions to avoid greed and I think this is beautiful. “The Art of War”, has been an interesting handbook that I’ve kept with me through my work and travels.
