We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Angelica Aguilar. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Angelica below.
Hi Angelica, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
Honestly, I am still learning, I’m striving to learn how the algorithm works on social media, it’s always changing. Other than that, modeling clothes and showing off beauty supplies is kind of second nature to me, I love beauty and fashion, so why not show it off?! To get attention from brands, I tried to follow what my influencers were doing, because obviously, whatever they are doing is working! I follow trends, learn to use certain popular songs at the time. I honestly wish I had started back during covid time because literally everyone blew up on tiktok! Now, because the social media algorithm has changed so much it is harder to figure out how to gain popularity on being a creator. I think skill-wise, I’ve learned to be consistent posting content and meeting the brands needs in a timely manner. I’m actually struggling with an obstacle right now…because I work 2 jobs, it is very difficult to learn more about being a content creator. I’m contemplating, do I take the hit of losing money and asking for 2 days off of my 2nd job to learn more on content creating? Or, don’t risk it and keep the same 2 jobs knowing I will get my income and push aside content creation for the weekend?
Angelica, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Yes, so Hello my loves! I am Angelica Aguilar and I am an independent woman who works in warehousing by day, works for a family owned sticker company by night and a fashion and beauty content creator by the weekends. I work in warehousing as a Storeroom Coordinator in the Maintenance Department and for another small company, but fashion and beauty is my passion. I am all about looking good on a budget as a Midsize/Plussize woman. I got into fashion and beauty content by just simply being influenced by my own beauty influencers. I love hair, makeup, and fashion and I thought I could do it too! I want to be able to remind us Size 14/16 and up girlies we are strong, beautiful, and amazing! I am most proud of all of my hard work and for being brave and actually starting this whole journey. My main goal is for my fellow midsize/plus size girls to know they can be on a budget but can always look good too.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me personally, my self-confidence has gone up. When I tell you that just posting videos of me showing off clothes really boosted my self-esteem, oh I’m so grateful for the confidence I find myself having is amazing! It really is a great feeling. On a grander scale, what is most rewarding for me is knowing I can help influence other women to look good on a budget. I truly love when I get compliments out in public about my outfit, my makeup or hair. I go into full influencer mode. Knowing I was able to help educate another beautiful woman and remind them we don’t have to be rich to look good and size doesn’t matter!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
As I said before, my mission is to help remind us beautiful ladies, mainly my midsize/plus size girlies, that we look good, don’t be afraid to show it off, and we can do it all without breaking the bank! My ultimate goal is to be a full time content creator! I want to always be there for women and show them all the popular fashion and beauty trends going around so they can feel good too!
