We were lucky to catch up with Angela Walsh recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Angela thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
Creatively Networking was established during the pandemic. As an author, author coach, and manager of my daughter’s modeling career, I realized that creative artists were hit hard when we had to stay in our homes. Networking is a huge part of being noticed. We had no runway shows, music events, or anywhere to showcase our talents.
I first bought the domain and made sure no one else had come up with the same idea. After that, I went to social platforms and created pages. Then I used messaging and talking to friends to gain interest and find creative people to feature on my pages.
I’m not like a lot of these promotional pages. I look for amazing talent and feature them free of charge. Don’t fall prey to people that want you to pay to be in their social pages. Some are legit, but that’s few and far between.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I began writing in elementary. I would write poems, stories, and song lyrics. By the age of thirteen, I knew I wanted to be a writer and would spend hours at the library studying the art of writing, songwriting, and how to break into a music career as a lyricist. No internet back then, so I had to work long hours to find information, but I was extremely dedicated.
I’m proud to say that I’m a member of ASCAP as a songwriter, I have multiple books that I’ve published on my own, and cannot wait to show everyone my life story, as well as an autobiography that I’m helping someone complete.
People often tell me that I don’t charge enough for all of the things I do to help others. To me, it’s not always about the money. Yes, I need to help support my family, but I also need to do help others, that’s what God commands me to do, and HE always provides for us.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I derailed from writing once I started college. I wanted to go to Nashville and earn a degree in music business. My dad told me I needed to major in something that would always give me a paycheck, so I became a teacher.
Teaching was rewarding, but my heart has always been in writing and creating.
Figure out how to follow your dreams, even if it means working a job that pays the bills. Never give up!
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
