Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angela Walling. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Angela, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I have always been creative and grew up in a very creative environment. Both my Mom and sister have art degree. I started painting in my late twenties. Then I stopped for about 10 years. When I was in my mid 40’s I met a fellow artist and we started a lady art group. We would have creative sessions and visit local art galleries and shows. When one of the galleries had a grand opening they invited me to participate. I entered 2 paintings. One was my very first acrylic painting. Next thing I knew I was participated in multi art shows and was making sales on my artwork. Now 7 years later I have my own studio and fashion design company.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Self taught and native Houstonian. I grew up in a very created family. I started painting in my late twenties but didn’t have my first art show until my mid forties. Once I participated in my first show then it’s been non stop since then. I have exhibited in many galleries, markets and art shows all over Houston. Never give up on your dreams. It is never too late.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Sharing my soul and vision with others. Finding the connection with my artwork.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I would have tried abstract at an earlier age. I could have released my created journey sooner.
