We recently connected with Angela Romero and have shared our conversation below.
Angela, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
In 2014, I had a wake-up call that changed everything. I was working my “hobby job” at a horse ranch—a place that drained my spirit and undervalued my potential. My boss constantly doubted me, and while I didn’t realize it at the time, she was teaching me exactly what kind of leader I never wanted to be. One Saturday, as I toiled away, realizing I was missing my son’s football game. It hit me hard: What am I doing here?
That moment, I prayed. I asked God to guide me, to show me my purpose, and to open doors that aligned with the path I was meant to walk. I promised to follow whatever signs came my way, to be selfless, to serve, and to live with intention. As I looked back down at my computer, something caught my eye—a small ad in the sidebar for health coaching. Without hesitation, I clicked. Before I knew it, I was on the phone with a representative, and I was enrolled in the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. I hadn’t even told my husband yet.
This was a leap of faith—one that required commitment, time, and trust. But as I dove deeper into health coaching, I felt my passion ignite. I pursued certifications in group fitness and comprehensive Pilates. Through IIN, I gained knowledge of Ayurveda—the science of life—I knew I had found my calling. I immersed myself in studies, enrolling in programs that taught me the ancient art of balancing the body, mind, and spirit. Herbs and essential oils became another part of my journey, and with each step, my purpose grew clearer: I wanted to empower women like me, who had struggled with hormonal imbalances and digestive issues, to find balance and reclaim their vitality naturally.
In 2023, I took the biggest leap yet: opening my own space, Ground Roots Health Collective. This wasn’t just a clinic; it was a dream come to life. I’ve never been someone with money in the bank—my life has been paycheck to paycheck. But with God, the universe, and sheer determination, everything fell into place. Ground Roots became a sanctuary for women seeking healing, connection, and revival. It’s not just about me; it’s a collective. Here, other holistic practitioners bring their expertise under one roof, creating a space where women can find comprehensive, natural solutions to their health challenges.
Despite adversity, every door I’ve needed has opened at just the right time. I believe my role is to serve as a conduit, helping others through simple, actionable steps that restore balance to the gut, regulate hormones, and revitalize the spirit. This isn’t just a business; it’s a calling, and every woman who walks through our doors becomes a part of this incredible journey.
If you’ve ever felt stuck, frustrated, or out of sync with your body, I’ve been there. But I’m here to tell you that balance is possible. Through diet, lifestyle adjustments, herbs, and treatments tailored to your needs, we can work together to transform your health. Whether you’re curious about my services, want to follow my journey, or simply need inspiration to start your own path toward healing, I invite you to connect. Let’s walk this road to wellness together, one step at a time.

Angela, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Angela Romero, an Ayurveda & holistic health practitioner, Herbalist, aromatherapist, Pilates instructor, and founder of Ground Roots Health Collective. My journey into this industry was inspired by a deep desire to heal myself and those around me. It began when my firstborn struggled with asthma, and traditional treatments weren’t providing the relief we hoped for. That experience sparked a passion for exploring alternative, natural solutions. Over time, my curiosity turned into a calling, and what started as a quest to help my family grew into a mission to empower women to achieve balance and vitality in their lives.
At Ground Roots Health Collective, I offer a range of services designed to address gut and hormone health, two foundational areas that impact overall wellness. My approach is rooted in the belief that the body has an incredible capacity to heal when given the right tools and environment. I work with clients through personalized health coaching programs, custom herbal blends, Ayurvedic treatments, fat-loss therapies, and private training sessions. Additionally, I create a welcoming space for other holistic health practitioners to collaborate and offer their services under one roof, making it easier for clients to access a variety of natural healing modalities.
What sets me apart is my integrative approach. I blend ancient Ayurvedic practices with modern health science, offering a unique perspective that addresses the root causes of health issues rather than just managing symptoms. I specialize in helping women who struggle with digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, and stress to find sustainable solutions through diet, lifestyle adjustments, herbal remedies, and treatments that are both effective and manageable. My programs are deeply personalized because no two women’s journeys are the same.
I’m incredibly proud of the community we’ve built at Ground Roots Health Collective. It’s more than a place for healing—it’s a space for connection, growth, and empowerment. My clients often share how transformative their experiences have been, from reclaiming energy and balance to feeling more in tune with their bodies than ever before. Seeing those transformations is what drives me every single day.
For potential clients or followers, I want you to know that my work is about more than providing services—it’s about creating a partnership. I meet you where you are, with empathy and understanding, and guide you toward actionable, attainable steps to improve your health and well-being. Whether you’re looking for support with gut health, hormonal imbalances, or simply want to feel more vibrant and alive, I’m here to help you get there naturally and sustainably.
If you’re seeking a place where your health goals are truly heard and supported, or if you’re curious about how to bring holistic practices into your life, I’d love for you to connect with me. Ground Roots Health Collective is a space for every woman ready to take her next step toward balance, healing, and a life lived to its fullest potential. Let’s grow and heal together.

Have you ever had to pivot?
For 12 years, I was deeply immersed in visual merchandising. I had graduated from FIDM with dreams of building a lifelong career in fashion. As the corporate visual merchandise manager for a local skate shop, I loved what I was doing—until the company unexpectedly closed its doors. It was a gut-wrenching moment that left me scrambling to find my next step.
I interviewed with Vans and was thrilled when I made it through most of the hiring process. But then came the blow—I didn’t meet their HR requirements because I didn’t have a bachelor’s degree. It felt like a door had slammed shut on my ambitions. I landed a position at Forever 21 instead, but it was a nightmare. Not only was I earning $8 less than my previous salary, but the environment drained the passion I once had for my work. I couldn’t help but remember my mom’s advice: “Do what you love, and the money will follow.” The problem was, I no longer loved what I was doing.
With two young boys at home, I realized that a 9-to-5 career wasn’t going to allow me to be the mom I wanted to be. I needed to be present for school drop-offs, pickups, and classroom volunteering. So, I stepped away from the corporate world and visual merchandising altogether and took on what I call “hobby jobs”—bartending, waitressing, and other flexible work that let me prioritize my family.
But deep down, I knew I couldn’t keep coasting. I was constantly searching for my next career move, asking myself, What does this look like day-to-day? Could I really see myself doing this? Nothing seemed to click. Even though I was passionate about holistic health, I never believed it could be a viable career path.
That all changed three years later, during a moment of clarity while working at a horse ranch. I had a heartfelt talk with God and the Universe, asking for guidance. I promised that if I were shown a path, I would follow it wholeheartedly. That was the turning point—the moment I let go of fear and embraced the possibilities laid before me.
Today, I own Ground Roots Health Collective, a space where I help women find balance and healing through holistic health practices. That pivot, though challenging, was the best decision I ever made. It taught me that sometimes, life’s detours aren’t obstacles—they’re opportunities waiting to unfold.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience, to me, is about finding strength in the moments that test you the most—and there’s one chapter in my journey that truly stands out. It was the year the world shut down. The pandemic turned everything upside down, and like so many others, I was forced to rethink everything. At the time, I was working on building my holistic health practice, juggling certifications, family life, and the uncertainty of what was to come. I didn’t have the luxury of stability; every step forward felt like a leap into the unknown.
Despite the chaos, I stayed committed to my vision. I used that time to sharpen my skills, deepen my knowledge, and expand my understanding of what it meant to truly heal and help others. Financially, it was a strain—I’ve never been someone with money to spare, and taking risks felt even scarier in such an uncertain time. But I refused to let fear dictate my choices. Instead, I leaned on faith, creativity, and sheer determination to push through.
When the dust began to settle, I saw the need for connection and healing in my community like never before. That’s when the idea for Ground Roots Health Collective was born. It wasn’t easy to create a space like this with limited resources and so much stacked against me, but I focused on the bigger picture. I pieced everything together step by step, trusting that the doors I needed would open—and they did.
Today, Ground Roots Health Collective is more than just a business; it’s a symbol of what resilience can create. It’s a space where women come to reconnect with themselves, heal naturally, and find balance in their lives. Through every obstacle, I’ve learned that resilience isn’t just about enduring the storm—it’s about building something meaningful in its aftermath.
That chapter in my journey taught me that when you stay aligned with your purpose and refuse to give up, even the hardest times can lead to incredible growth.
