Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angela Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Angela, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
Before I started working with flowers I went to the Conservatory of Music in Kansas City, Missouri where I majored in vocal performance. I have two degrees in voice; a bachelor’s and master’s. I toured for a year with a children’s theatre before marrying my husband who was in medical school at the time. After returning home and starting our lives together I worked at a small business where I edited and put together music books. Even though I had a full-time job, I started playing around with flowers in 2013 but life got busy and my flower arranging was put on hold until I found out I was pregnant in 2016.
After having our son, I left the workforce to stay home. While I enjoyed caring for and spending time with my son, I found that I needed a creative outlet and started working with flowers during his nap time and in the evenings. I soon discovered that I loved all of the textures, colors, and the way flowers could bring a smile to someone’s face! I knew though that I needed more experience, so I traveled to Illinois a few times to take workshops through the Illinois State Floral Association and worked with a few different local florists in our area to learn what I needed!
I began posting my creations on Instagram and my Facebook page and soon I had a photographer reach out to me to ask about bouquets for a styled shoot. Once that happened, my business really took off! It was actually very unexpected ,but in a good way. I had originally planned to start slow and do a few weddings here and there, but right out of the gate I had 8 weddings. I’ll forever be thankful to my first clients who trusted me enough to create their wedding flowers!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
I’m a born-and-raised Missourian (where did you go to high school?) and I’m a mom to a six-year-old little boy, a seventeen-month old daughter, and one boxer/pit mix named Grizzly. I’m married to my high school sweetheart, but we’ve known each other since Kindergarten!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Working with flowers (a live product) is an art form, and many times the colors or textures of the blooms themselves inform the final piece. For example, if a client wants a whimsical yet edgy-feel, I can pull drapey items such as ivy, Italian ruscus, or even hanging amaranthus and combine those with flowers that are more structured or different, like a rose or tulip. I love being able to take an idea or vision and turn it into a reality.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
A few places; Instagram, planners whom I’ve worked with before and know from real weddings or styled shoots, and finally word of mouth, which is exciting!
