Angela, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think success is in the eyes of the beholder. One’s success is measured by the goals they have accomplished to fulfill their dreams. Success is not about any monetary measures. It is about one’s own sense of self accomplishments. My level of success for me doesn’t start until I have accomplished all my goals and until I reach a level of comfort.
One might say I am successful now. You have a good job.(9-5) and 2 businesses. However, I have more to accomplish and goals to reach..
Angela, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am somewhat of a perfectionist. I don’t stop until I feel I have done all I can..I love to create. I love to transform things. Love to learn and I love to figure things out on my own. I am a DIYer.. These are all the reasons why I got into this industry. I didn’t choose it, it chose me. I am passionate about what I do. This is not a hobby for me or a means to pick up extra cash. So when people hire me to do balloon decorations for me, they can rest assured that it will be beautiful and I am going to go above and beyond.
Let’s talk a little bit about my thought process when I got into this industry. My goal was to provide clients/customers with affordability. I wanted to bring beauty to those in all income brackets. So I have tailored my balloon packages to do just that. Everyone should beable to experience a beautiful setup at their parties especially kids. I can bring a vision to life.
But at the same time, I have this urge to just go all out. I want to go over the top with my balloon decor but the kind of clients I attract can’t afford that. So that in itself is one of the challenges I face when attracting clientele.
What sets me apart from everyone else is that I have a passion, a drive for this industry. I eat sleep and breathe balloons. I want people to know that having balloon decor is a luxury and it’s not cheap to decorate for an event. So I try to tailor my packages to where they can get something beautiful and if it’s within budget, they can add more and more items.
I also do balloon bouquets. I create balloon gifts for special occasions as well. A lot of times when we celebrate something we are always giving cards, flowers or helium balloons. I provide a service where clients can get creative with their gifts and incorporate all those boring gifts into something more creative and it will last much longer.
At the end of the day, I am most proud of how far I have come. I don’t get much clientele and I have thought about quitting many times but because I love to do this, it’s not in me to quit. I am just going to get more creative in out in slot of foot work. Right now I only advertise on social media but I intend to get flyers and business cards to go hand out.
I am also looking into my own event space where clients can book my space for their events. I will have décor packages for that as well and I am hoping to one day eliminate having to travel to clients to setup balloon decor.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I think for the most part my resilience is reflected in the fact that 2 years later I am still here, I am still creating and still providing a service and now I am in the process of looking for my own even space so that I can bring clients to me.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to be an entrepreneur and to be my own boss. When I got tired of paying off someone else’s mortgage, I fixed my credit and bought me house. Now I am at the point where I am over working for someone else and having a manager whom can dictate what is is you can and can’t do in your role. So now I am pursuing working for my self and obtaining financial freedom.
