Angela, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?
I started doing Snapchat takeover back then if you know you know! During that time people started to love my work and followed me on all my social media platforms. I was in this group chat on Instagram for content creators to help us grow our platform. We did challenges, gave out tips shared our analytics etc. One of the challenges was to post daily on IG. It was perfect timing since I wanted to work on being more consistent. After weeks of planning content and filming day and nights to make sure I don’t miss any days, balancing kids, school, work and household I finally got my first brand deal. I was in shock and could not believe it. My hard work paid off and proved me that with consistency and faith you can succeed.

My name is Angela (31) born and raised in Germany, parents are from Cabo Verde. I am married and have three children, aged 1, 8, and 12. I find myself quite occupied by them. I didn’t have any intention of getting into makeup (creating content) until I moved away from my family and started feeling depressed. I needed something to occupy my attention during that time. Makeup has always been fascinating to me, almost like therapy. It helps me during tough times. The passion became more and more intense. After recognizing that I could make money from my passion, I realized that this was my calling after a long period of not knowing what to do. In
today’s digital age, social media content creation has become an essential tool for businesses, influencers, and individuals. Engaging content is crucial due to the billions of consumers scrolling through various platforms daily. As a social media content creator, my role is pivotal in shaping narratives, building communities, and building engagement.
For myself First and foremost, understanding my audience is key. Whether I’m creating content for a brand, a cause, or myself, knowing who I’m reaching out to be essential. My content can be tailored to resonate with my audience’s interests, preferences, and needs by conducting audience research, analyzing demographics, and studying the trends.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Building my audience on social media has been a journey of consistency, authenticity, and engagement. When I first started, I focused on defining my niche and understanding my target audience. This helped me tailor my content to meet the needs and interests of my audience.
I began by creating high-quality content that resonated with my audience. Whether it was through informative posts, or entertaining videos, I aimed to provide value and foster a sense of connection with my followers.
Consistency was key in building my social media presence. I established a regular posting schedule and made sure to maintain a consistent brand identity across all platforms. This helped me stay top-of-mind with my audience and build trust over time.
Engagement has also been critical in growing my audience. I actively engaged with my followers by responding to comments, asking questions, and initiating conversations. Building genuine relationships with my audience not only increased their loyalty but also encouraged them to share my content with others, helping to expand my reach organically.
As for advice for those just starting to build their social media presence, I would emphasize the following:
