We were lucky to catch up with Angela Goldstein recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Angela thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
This is our mission statement:
“From our home… to yours” is not just a slogan that we use, but the way in which we run our business and lead our lives. We found each other after previous marriages and kids, and were incredibly lucky to find an amazing home to share together. A place that has become central to our blended family and where so much of our happiness exists. It is this feeling that drives us every day to bring that same level of joy, through real estate, to each of our clients.
During Covid, as most of the world did, my husband Lee and I decided to re-prioritize our lives. We decided that we no longer wanted to work for a large national brokerage and wanted to work for a company that felt more personal, more like home. We understood that knowing the ins and outs of real estate wasn’t enough and wanted a brokerage where the focus was put back on the client and not us, the agents. And, since that didn’t exist, we decided to launch Northgate Realty, where our clients become friends, and friends become clients, and we deeply care for their individual needs, not just for the transaction we have at hand, but for life. We want our clients and friends to feel as though they can drop by our home for a casual cup of coffee, engage in heartfelt conversations, and seek expert advice on all things real estate, without ever feeling the weight of expectation. We are redefining what it means to feel at home in the world of real estate.


Angela, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As an owner and realtor at Northgate Realty, alongside my husband and partner Lee Goldstein, we have helped countless sellers, buyers, and investors achieve their real estate goals. We assist clients throughout Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia; we possess an extensive knowledge of the local market dynamics, enabling us to guide our clients towards the best opportunities and solutions tailored to their needs.
I entered the real estate industry in 2004 on the tile side and became an agent in 2012, I was driven by a desire to have more freedom with my time. I wanted a life where I could attend my children’s activities, cheer them on at soccer games, and attend their dazzling dance recitals. And let’s not forget the joy of volunteering in their classrooms. I quickly saw success shortly after becoming an agent. I closed 26 transactions during my first year as a realtor and was awarded the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtor’s Rookie of the Year. DC Metro Real Producers featured me as a 2017 Rising Star, and in 2018, I was named one of “Three Realtors to Know” by the Washington Business Journal.
Since becoming a realtor, my priority has always been to make my clients feel like they are working with a trusted friend. I believe fostering lasting relationships with my clients is more important than simply closing deals. Having worked in the title industry, I learned firsthand the value of building trust and connections with those who I serve. As I continued to assist more and more clients in buying or selling their homes, I couldn’t help but become genuinely invested in their stories and families. It wasn’t just a business transaction for me; it was about forming meaningful connections that often turned into friendships.
I believe that a perfect home exists for everyone. I often talk people out of buying homes, and I know that sounds strange, but hear me out. I sincerely believe everyone deserves to find their dream home, and I won’t rest until they do. I am a firm believer in making sure every purchase is a sound investment. So before anyone takes the leap with me, they can rest assured that they are making a wise decision. Trust me, the right home is waiting just around the corner, and I am here to guide my clients to it.
How’d you meet your business partner?
In 2016, I crossed paths with the man who would become my husband and business partner. We were both working at a local real estate company – I was a principal of a realtor team, and he was a managing partner. Funny enough, for the first two years, our conversations were limited to brief hellos and goodbyes.
But one evening, everything changed. During a company happy hour at Bar Dupont in Dupont Circle, we found ourselves talking for hours, laughing, and genuinely enjoying each other’s company. We didn’t think much of it then, just two colleagues having a great conversation.
Fast forward to May 9, 2019, we went on our first date. We had dinner at Cafe Berlin on Capitol Hill, and afterward, we walked towards the Capitol. I’ll never forget that moment – the Capitol building lit up against the night sky. It felt like a scene from a movie. And as we stood there, taking in the breathtaking view, we shared a kiss that felt like the beginning of something truly special.
Fast forward to today, and we are now happily married. Our wedding took place in Palm Springs, CA, this past March, surrounded by the beauty of the desert. The journey from colleagues to partners in love and business has been an incredible one. Together, we navigate the ups and downs of both our personal and professional lives, supporting and inspiring each other every step of the way.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
If I had to pinpoint one thing, it would be my active participation in my local realtor association’s professional committees, which has been invaluable. By joining these committees, I have had the opportunity to contribute to the development and improvement of the real estate industry in my area. This involvement has not only allowed me to stay updated on industry trends and regulations but has also showcased my dedication to the profession. As a result, my peers and clients view me as a knowledgeable and committed realtor, reinforcing my reputation within the market.
