We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Angela Fuller a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Angela thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
The defining moment in my career came during a deeply challenging time. After leaving my corporate recruiting job due to a debilitating back injury, I became a stay-at-home mom and silently struggled with postpartum depression. Feeling lost and disconnected, I began attending fitness classes, though my back pain often made progress feel impossible.
Everything changed when my best friend was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Her strength and perseverance inspired me to reevaluate my life and pursue a deeper sense of purpose. With determination, I focused on healing—physically and spiritually—by getting baptized, working with a nutritionist, and committing to weight training and physical therapy to rebuild my body.
With renewed health and a changed mindset, I transitioned to a career as a fitness instructor, passionate about helping moms who face similar challenges. I also set out to achieve two lifelong dreams: competing on American Ninja Warrior and returning to competitive gymnastics after 27 years. These experiences proved that setbacks can be turned into opportunities for growth.
This journey reinforced that adversity can lead to transformation. It shaped my mission to help others tap into their strength, rediscover their purpose, and pursue their dreams with determination and courage.

Angela , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a 44-year-old mom, fitness instructor, competitive masters gymnast, American Ninja Warrior, and an inspirational speaker. My journey into fitness, gymnastics, ninja, and public speaking was driven by resilience and a passion to inspire others. After leaving corporate America due to a back injury and transitioning into motherhood, I struggled with postpartum depression and a sense of disconnection from myself. Fitness became my lifeline, especially Zumba dance fitness, offering both physical and emotional healing. Ultimately, I realized I wanted to share that transformative power with others.
As a certified group fitness instructor, I focus on helping moms prioritize self-care and rediscover joy through movement. I lead morning classes at the Highlands Ranch Recreation Centers, creating an environment where women feel supported and empowered to improve their health. Balancing family, work, and personal time is challenging, and I aim to make fitness a positive and accessible outlet for women navigating these demands.
What distinguishes me is the journey I’ve been on. From battling chronic back pain and postpartum depression to managing the emotional weight of motherhood, I’ve emerged stronger and more determined. I’ve also pursued bold goals, such as competing on American Ninja Warrior and returning to competitive gymnastics after 27 years. These experiences have shaped my fitness philosophy: it’s about more than just physical strength—it’s about building resilience, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
I’m most proud of how my story has motivated others to overcome their own struggles and realize their potential. My mission is to show that it’s never too late to make a change, chase dreams, and invest in yourself. For me, fitness is not just about the physical—it’s about empowerment, transformation, and living life to the fullest.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been cultivating strong, authentic relationships within my community. By fostering a supportive and inclusive environment in my classes where people feel valued and encouraged, fitness becomes more than just a workout—it becomes a space for connection.
I go above and beyond for my students by engaging them through events like fitness lunches, themed parties, and challenges. These activities help build trust, strengthen camaraderie, and create opportunities for new participants to join.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe what helped me build my reputation within my market is my high energy, passion, and deep love for both fitness and my students. I bring a genuine enthusiasm to every class and interaction, which creates an environment where people feel motivated, supported, and excited to show up. My students know I care about their success, and I’m invested in helping them achieve their goals. Whether it’s through personalized attention, energetic classes, or community-building events, I’ve worked hard to create a space that’s both empowering and fun. This dedication has naturally led to word-of-mouth referrals, helping me build trust and a loyal following within the community.
