Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angela Cuban Diva. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Angela thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
As of this year 2023 I had many amazing projects I worked on. Let’s go back to the beginning of this year 2023 and work our way down. I have traveled a lot more this year. I went to Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Phoenix, AZ and back to Houston. I have been booked to perform multiple times those cities. In Corpus Christi I performed at club Gemini with my great friend Alian who is I am a feature on his song “Tiene Sentido” and that was truly amazing. The city of CC loves us as much as we do. While I was there I was invited to be a special guest artist on several radio stations / podcasts. Just to name a few I went to KLMO with Adam Ace & Placido, Majic 104.9 with LBJ , Wild 105.5 with the beautiful Angel Dee all thanks to my great friends who I consider my family” Javo G & Stella” for setting all those interviews up for me. Following that I went to The Puro Pedo Talk Show based in San Antonio TX with these 2 guys that talk smack 😂 that’s their motto. Chino Rod and Mixin Mark and the entire San Antonio crew who are like family to me since then. I was a special guest on their podcast show and I will never forget they picked a special day for me and let me sign there wooden bar of fame 😉 S/O to Gus, Debbie, Eli, Gary, Gracie, Priscilla and everyone that’s always supported me since we met. Sorry if I missed anyone lately there’s been many on my side 🥰 Oh and I can’t forget this year I also took a trip to San Antonio thanks to Margo. She is such an amazing, professional and caring individual. Thanks to Espino Entertainment I was booked to perform at my 1st Pride Festival which was a lot of fun and nothing I ever imagined. They loved me and I was told I’ll be back for 2024 which I’m very excited about, again thanks to Margo for this.
I got to meet a lot of great people in both San Antonio and Corpus. I even met The Original Cover Girls who I grew up listening to which was amazing and shared the stage with the beautiful and talented Liz Garcia a tejano music sensation. Corpus and San Antonio have a huge place in my heart and I love the people I know in those cities. Selena is of course another big reason I love Corpus Christi. She was such an inspiration to many and will always be to me. I went to Phoenix, AZ to film my first music video this year for the song “La Culpa” which also won an award for best song of the year called “Nosotros Award” which is based out of Phoenix, AZ. You can check out that video on YouTube.
Now let’s talk Houston, the city I was raised in. Here in Houston I have been working alongside with Paxton LawFirm as the spokeswoman. The face of almost all of his commercials on TV (Univision y más) and radio. I even created the jingle “It’s the Paxton LawFirm” that everyone knows. I have been working with this LawFirm for almost 2 years now and I love it. Thanks to DMan Escobar who’s been an amazing person and my friend for 20+ years. I’m also the female Co- Host to a podcast based in Houston TX called “The Hip Hop Live Show” that goes live on Facebook but our audience is worldwide. We focus on talented hand picked artist that we bring into our show. We have also brought big industry names to the platform to share their music and interview them to speak on their next projects. I won’t sit here and name drop them, but definitely go check us out on social media. One very big achievement I am extremely proud of this year is winning “Best Female Singer” thanks to Broadcast Houston. They created such a great event at White Oak Music Hall. It was an amazing event put together to honor Houston legends and different categories in the music and entertainment business. It was amazing to have my best friend David there who also won an award for best talk show of the year “TDM Talk,” and our great talented friend DJ Obedient who won best DJ of the year. Sharing the stage with all of them was something I’m extremely proud of. We received the most votes thanks to all of you who voted and made this possible for us ❤️
All 3 of us latinos got up there as winners and we definitely made history🏆
That’s one huge accomplishment this year and a great way to end 2023 🥂
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a very outgoing person. I am not afraid to speak or act upon anything. I believe that dreams work if you do. I put God 1st always. I know he is taken care of my mother up there and my job on earth is to keep her smiling. For fun I I love to sing and dance and have karoake nights. I’m also a big fan of bingo and domino with the family and game nights with friends. I recently had one of the most amazing game nights I ever had with awesome friends of mine and we were playing adult fun games at my house. I have some really funny videos of those times on my Instagram, go check them out. I’m an open book there’s not much people don’t know about me. You can simply Google me 😉 I have been singing pretty much all my life. My first show was in 2013 here in Houston. I did many shows out here and established fans from it that are still here today supporting me. My dad does have a big part in why I sing. He was a popular singer back in Vegas in the 70s- 80s and I guess that’s where I got it from. I was born in Vegas, but my parents are from Havana Cuba. I tell people I’m American with Cuban parts 😂 I am a mother of 4 children. I don’t make excuses in life, I just go for what I believe in and balance the world I live in. I have always been a Go-Getter even in the toughest times. I feel the toughest times made me who I am. It makes me value life.
I definitely did not have it easy growing up after I lost my mother at the age of 9, but I thank God for opening my eyes. He helped me find my purpose. I love helping people and I love to be a testimony to others that can relate to what I been through.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist (singer) to me would be the way people get inspired by my drive. They ask me how I do it and who I do it for. I tell them my kids and ME To have everyone singing your lyrics is inspirational. To know that people got through tough times through my lyrics is such a reward on its own. That’s what keeps me going and that’s what lights up my world.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
The way I built my audience on social media was by being myself. Being genuine and staying true to me. It took sometime to get to those #s and even though I’m no where near where I want to be, I know people see my #s as a big thing because it’s definitely hard to gain an audience these days. People love to see genuine beauty and real life events of failure turning into success stories. People who know me know my journeys been a rollercoaster ride, but I don’t and won’t give up and I know that’s admiring to keep watching.
