We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Angela Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Angela below.
Angela, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What was your school or training experience like? Share an anecdote or two that you feel illustrate important aspects or the overall nature of your schooling/training experience.
I was practicing as a physical therapist when I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I struggled for 15 years trying to get my health under control. I decided to get certified in a Functional Medicine myself so I could heal my own thyroid, and start working with women to do the same thing. I am now a board-certified, a functional diagnostic nutrition practitioner and specialize in helping women with thyroid disease to get their health back.

Angela, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a a holistic health coach from St. Louis, MO. I am a board certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P), a licensed physical therapist, as well as a personal trainer. I specialize in advanced testing and thyroid healing for women. I have recovered from hypothyroidism myself after being diagnosed at the age of 22. I used my experience and education to create a program called “The Sexy Thyroid Solution” to help women no longer suffer like i did and get to the root cause of their health issues.
I also have a self paced Thyroid course, called the “holistic thyroid solution” to help them, and get started on their journey.
I am most proud of that. I did not give up. I pushed for answers and was a huge advocate for my own health. And was able to put my thyroid condition in remission and doing so. And now I get to help women do the same thing.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One thing I had to learn on my journey is that there is no cookie-cutter approach with thyroid disease. I was told by numerous doctors and practitioners to just eat less and exercise more which backfired on me. Everyone is so person dependent with what they need or don’t need on their journey. I quickly learned that I needed more customization on my thyroid health journey, and it was way more than just eat less and exercise more.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
One of the most effective ways that has grown, my business is just being real and honest about my own journey. So many women can relate to my journey so when I share it, they don’t feel alone. And they feel validated. I love talking about my own journey and some of the mistakes that I made that I actually learned from.
