Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angela. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Angela , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
When my clients who were planning multiple wedding events came to me, they weren’t just looking for outfits. They were navigating a mindful transition into being seen more fully, into expressing themselves in a way that felt safe, aligned, and true. They didn’t want to go traditional for their wedding styles, while desiring to feel good being the center of attention.
There were quiet, familiar patterns in the background… the fear of being the center of attention, of being misunderstood or judged. The ache of not seeing your body reflected in the options online & in store in front of you. Sensitivities around texture, comfort, energy. The exhaustion that comes from feeling like there’s never really been space to choose what you actually want. It’s what most of us experience when shopping and getting dressed.
I listened for what mattered beneath the surface; how they wanted to feel in their bodies, what kind of care they needed around the process to get there, where their energy felt most alive. It wasn’t about forcing a “look.” It was about tuning into who they are, finding pieces that embodied that energy and supporting that with intention and love.
What unfolded was so beautiful. It was such a joy to guide them to see themselves in ways they haven’t in such a long time.
I found pieces that felt like them: unexpected, giving “main character” energy. Pieces that didn’t just “look good,” but supported their nervous systems, honored their sensitivities, and helped them feel grounded and confident. We stayed within budget, but it never felt like a limitation, more like a co-creative flow.
By the time the wedding events came, they didn’t just look glowing. They felt held, expressed, and empowered. Not performing, not hiding just showing up as themselves, with so much love.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Angela Denae, Intuitive Style Guide and I support sensitive, self aware humans in showing up with more ease, alignment, and self-trust, especially in moments of transition or visibility. I offer guided personal styling that’s less about trends or labels and more about remembering their truth. It’s about finding what feels good in your body, reflects who you are, and supports your energy; not just how you look, but how you feel being seen.
My practice is queer-affirming and rooted in self-care. I hold space for the full spectrum of identity, expression, and emotion. Many of my clients carry past experiences of shame, invisibility, or overwhelm. Together, we co-create a process that’s safe, collaborative, and deeply attuned. I listen for what matters beneath the surface—how you want to feel, what you need to feel supported, and what’s ready to be expressed on the outside.
Whether we’re preparing for a wedding, a photoshoot, or simply making peace with your closet, we move with intention and respect for your rhythm. My work meets you where you are and honors your becoming. Because of that, most of my clients do not have a specific “look”, they are themselves but elevated.
What I’m most proud of? Those moments when a client looks in the mirror and says, “I feel like myself.” That’s the heart of it, every time.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A big lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that there’s a “right” way to do this work—that I had to follow industry standards or mold myself into someone else’s version of what a stylist should be.
At first, I tried to fit into that. I thought I was doing what I was supposed to do—offering services in the way they were typically structured, focusing on certain outcomes, trying to present my work in a way that felt more “industry-aligned.” But the truth is… I felt boxed in. Honestly, I felt bored. I started to lose connection to the part of styling that I actually loved—the deeper emotional work, the energetic alignment and the gift of being seen for who you are now.
It wasn’t until I gave myself permission to do things my way that everything shifted. I realized: this is my business. If I want to love it, it has to feel alive for me. That meant slowing down the process, making space for real emotion, supporting clients energetically—not just aesthetically—and building offerings that feel nourishing to both of us.
Letting go of “how it’s done” allowed me to come back to why I do it. And that changed everything.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Honestly, the most effective strategy has been really simple: I treat each client the way I would want to be treated in this space—seen, supported, and gently guided through what can be a delicate, vulnerable journey back to self.
Instead of focusing on numbers or rapid growth, I’ve always centered the experience of the one person in front of me. I meet them where they are, offer tools they can carry forward, and hold space for a transformation that goes beyond the surface.
That kind of care creates trust—and trust creates momentum. Many of my clients come through word of mouth or referrals, because they felt deeply met in our work together. And that, to me, is the most aligned way to grow—soul to soul, one client at a time.
