We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Angel Townsend. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Angel below.
Angel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Fort Bend Fierce Volleyball Club was born from a deep passion to teach, inspire, and help young athletes realize their potential, both on and off the volleyball court. At its core, our mission is to foster character development while improving volleyball skills, reinforcing discipline, determination, and commitment. By providing a safe and supportive environment, we aim to inspire athletes to channel their energy into personal growth and achievement, embodying the values of F.I.E.R.C.E. This mission is especially close to my heart because it honors my niece, whose fierce and bright spirit continues to impact those around her. Through this business, her legacy lives on, reminding everyone of the power of being fearless, intense, energetic, resilient, courageous, and putting effort in all that you do. After working for both big and small volleyball clubs, I decided to branch off on my own because I wanted to do more than just run teams and clinics. My vision goes beyond volleyball, focusing on building character and inspiring young athletes to grow into their full potential. While I can’t reveal everything just yet, keep up and watch how God works through this vision—there’s so much more to come.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I stated this business because volleyball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I played growing up and completely fell in love with the sport. Coaching has been a passion of mine for about 9 years now, something I really embraced after my college years. What sets me apart from other businesses is that I see growth and opportunity in everyone I work with. It’s not just about volleyball or the bottom line for me—it’s about developing future leaders.
In a time where so many young people lack direction, my mission is to give them tools to guide their generation toward positivity. It’s amazing how much a sport can teach you about life and yourself. What I’m most proud of is the impact I’ve been able to have on families who may not have had the opportunity to play at the club level due to their circumstances. Being able to make a way for others and bless them, because I’ve been blessed, is what matters most to me.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I’m still in the process of building my reputation, and there’s a lot more growth ahead. But in the beginning, I was fortunate to have people who believed in me and witnessed firsthand the impact I had on their athletes. The growth I’ve been able to foster so far helped others see my potential as well. That word of mouth was crucial in getting my business started and gaining trust.
Any advice for managing a team?
My advice for managing a team and maintaining high morale is to set clear standards from the beginning. It’s important to surround yourself with people who share your vision and are committed to making that dream a reality. Treat everyone with kindness and respect, and show love even when it’s not always reciprocated. Personally, I always thank God for any success, as He deserves the glory. I also make it a priority to find others who value that mindset, so when challenges come up, we are aligned in both our values and the goals we want to achieve together.
