Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angel Sessions. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Angel, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I started singing when I was a little girl. When I was 11 years old, I began writing songs and singing in the choir. When I got older, I knew this was my passion so I started seeking a studio and meeting people to help produce my songs in the studio. I later met someone who started managing my career. I went to lots of auditions to perform for many major Record Labels.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Angel Sessions. I am a 16x award-winning Recording Artist and Songwriter. I am a Grammy Voting Member and NAACP Image Award voting Member. I’ve been in the Music Industry for over 25 years. I’ve released over 14 worldwide albums and multiple #1 hit singles. I got into the music Industry starting in 1991. The music I write is R&B and Gospel. Many of my fans remember me when I first released my album, Introducing Angel Sessions on Ichiban Records which was owned by EMI and is now owned by Universal Music Group. In 1999 I released my second R&B album called Love Ride on Volt Records. It was released in hard copies only. Volt Records sold their company to Concord Records, now owned by Universal Music Group. On October 4th, 2024, Universal Music Group just reissued my album Love Ride in digital copies and it is now available on streaming services and online major stores. In 2017 I started my label with my two partners, Demetrius Guidry and Rodney Crews. Our Record Label is called Atlas Elite Entertainment LLC. We have our online magazine on our website.
What sets me apart from other artists is my music. I wrote all of my lyrics and vocal arrangments and produced some of my music. My style is unique. I love to use scriptures in the Gospel songs that I write. I enjoy spreading God’s word to the hearts of his people and many who will hear my songs. My songs have reached many major labels, artists, and people all around who share their thoughts about my songs and love what they hear.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I started when I was a child singing in the churches and singing gospel music. When I became a young adult, I started writing and recording R&B songs and released my first two albums in the R&B category. I decided years later to go back to doing gospel music when I had a change of heart. I’ve always loved singing gospel so that was when I pivoted in my career.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn in my career is not to trust everyone. Not everyone has your best interest at heart. I had to learn that the hard way because I did not understand that in the early part of my career. I had to learn to put my trust in God, and he led and guided my footsteps.
