We recently connected with Angel Rosales and have shared our conversation below.
Angel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
During my time in California, there was a surge in popularity for retro-style t-shirts featuring iconic TV shows like CHiPs, A-Team, and Saturday morning cartoons. While these shirts were cool, I found myself brimming with ideas for unique designs. Teaming up with my friend Jesse, we embarked on a journey to create original, non-duplicated concepts.
Upon relocating to Houston, I translated our brainstormed ideas into tangible designs using Photoshop. Taking our venture a step further, I invested in a heat press and a sublimation printer, officially entering the realm of t-shirt production. The only missing piece was a fitting name for our business.
Seated at my desk, contemplation took hold. We make original artwork and use a heat press to imprint those images onto shirts – a process encapsulated in three words: Burn. The. Original.
Burn The Original, a name embodying the essence of our process, where we literally burned original art onto shirts.
Angel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
In 2022, I transformed Burn The Original, initially a DBA, into Burn The Original, LLC. This marked our evolution from a mere t-shirt company to a dynamic technology firm. While we retained our ability to produce branded shirts, our focus expanded into the tech realm.
Throughout 2022, we experienced substantial growth and diversification beneath this expansive technology umbrella. Our collaboration extended to Pixel Rerun, LLC., a Texas-based software company specializing in mobile games, CRM software, and the crypto niche. Our role involved substantial contributions to programming and development.
Gaming swiftly became an integral facet of our brand. As Twitch Affiliates, we engage in daily live streams, generating revenue through ad placements, subscriptions, and sponsorships.
As of December 2023, Burn The Original has forged an official partnership with Nieto Technology Partners. Nieto offers a comprehensive range of services encompassing IT, Cloud, Staffing, and Development. Described on their website as a “Customer Service Company that understands technology,” Nieto perfectly aligns with our values. Working closely with the exceptional team at Nieto has been a delight. Explore their offerings at Nieto.com, and be sure to mention my referral when you connect with them!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
As previously noted, Burn The Original began as a t-shirt printing company before transitioning into the tech sector. Adaptability is key. While crafting t-shirts was enjoyable, the real financial potential lies in the realm of technology.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Consider bringing on a salesperson or be open to forming partnerships. Personally, I was fortunate to collaborate with Nieto Technology Partners, who bring in clients, allowing me to focus on the work itself without the constant hustle.
