We recently connected with Angel Prince and have shared our conversation below.
Angel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later?
If I could go back in time I’d change nothing. I have to believe that everything works out exactly how it’s supposed to. Every experience, every job, every loss and every win are all pieces of the puzzle. The puzzle that has created my business. The business that I began when I was only about 14 or 15 years old right in my room at the mothers house.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
I am a 25 year old licensed stylist located in Raleigh, NC. Who’s only recently began living my dreams of becoming a hair stylist. I’m from a pretty small town, located in the eastern part of North Carolina called Windsor. I knew from a young age that I wanted to become a hair stylist, and although the journey has not been easy. I take pride in my growth, customer service, skill level and professionalism along the way. My clients all hold a special place in my heart. We share special occasions, laughs, smiles, hugs and most importantly support. I strive to make each individual look and feel beautiful. I personally believe when you look good you feel good and that sounds pretty good to me. So you ask. What sets me apart? The answer is I care. I care not only about the health and appeal of the clients hair but about each individual client.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My entire journey is my story. After I obtained my license, I didn’t become a full time stylist right away. I did it part time, i traveled, I took several breaks and worked a bunch of jobs to fund my business and personal life. Looking back each set back, or what I now refer to it as a “detour” was everything I needed. Every job I’ve worked help provide me with the tools that I now need. For example I worked at the customer service desk for a former company at some point in my life. This job taught me true customer service skills. And as funny as it may seem return policy’s. Which are super important for any business.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
In todays time you have to be very mindful of your words and actions. This may mean that sometimes you may not be able to engage in trending topics of the news and or social media. I guess you can say I like to study and always find ways to become better. In doing so I often see many celebrities make statements as such and later retract them for various reasons.
