Angel, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

I’m on a mission to make my app, SLADE, the premier platform for student borrowers to utilize in eliminating their student loan debt. I believe everyone deserves a quality and affordable education. Folks shouldn’t hesitate to follow their dreams and accomplish their goals because of the rising cost of education and the worry of how they will pay for that education. I believe we have to provide more pathways for students to access the money they need to pay for tuition and college-related costs.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My journey to creating my app, SLADE, started when I completed my Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership. Upon completion of my degree, I found myself needing to solve a large problem, how I would pay off all of the student loan debt I incurred while accomplishing my dreams of receiving a Doctorate Degree in my professional field. I know I had to think creatively, “outside of the box thinking” so to speak. That’s how SLADE developed. SLADE is a moblie app that allows student borrowers the opportunity to build a network of support in order to pay off student debt faster. Other apps leave the student paying off their debt alone, penny by penny. The features within SLADE allow for users to receive support from others to help pay off their debt, enabling them to realize financial freedom from student debt much faster.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

My journey has been riddled with many “no’s”. I hear no for various reasons. I haven’t allowed that to hinder me from moving forward with my idea. I believe the ability to keep moving forward after hearing “no” definitely illustrates resilience.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

I started my business with my own money and I have continued to use my own money within my business.
