We recently connected with Angel Hart and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Angel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
In 2020 after the murder of George Floyd, I created a project entitled “We Are Your Voices: A New Generation of Black Power”. This project was meaningful to me for a few reasons; It embodied the feel of the Black Community at the time of a tragedy that shook the nation and it also allowed me to work with a few local artist that I knew personally to work on their crafts, in the areas of writing, singing and spoken word. All of the artist are a part of Generation Z, which allow me as a Millennial to be able to nurture their gifts, and mentor them as we finished the album. They were dedicated to the work. We completed the project in 10 days.

Angel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I began writing as a child and that has now blossomed into me being a spoken word artist. My digital platform is evolving as I have released three digital projects. I have been able to stand on various platforms including events, podcast and being published in a few books, journals and articles to present the art form that means so much to me. In my work, I speak on life experiences in love and relationships, and the plight of the Black Community. We are making great strides, and I aim to highlight some of the struggles that we have faced, as well as the triumphs as well.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
As an artist, it is super humbling when someone connects to your work. Because of the connection, I have had people to share their stories with me, and let me know how my work has impacted them. It’s a rewarding feeling to know that a few simple words can help someone to reach their ultimate healing, or to know that they were feeling the same way and just didn’t know how to convey it. Engaging conversation about the art that I have created has been so rewarding!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The mission for me is to bring light into a sometimes dismal world. We all like to escape from the pressures that come along with life. I hope that what I create makes people think, laugh, cry, be happy…etc. What ever they gain from the work, I hope that it inspires. Ultimately, the goal for me is to continue to not only build and be a part of a community of other spoken word artist and poets, but to also get my work in front of game changers that will place the art form at the front of the arts world.
