We were lucky to catch up with Angel Dweh recently and have shared our conversation below.
Angel , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
One of the significant projects I have undertaken involves the development of my forthcoming second musical EP titled “Scorpio,” which is slated for release on November 8, 2024. Through this creative endeavor, I have found the strength to reconstruct, heal, and share my vulnerabilities with my dedicated audience, “The Angels.” The upcoming EP, “Scorpio,” has provided an avenue to recognize and embrace my capabilities as an alpha male while reflecting on the obstacles I have encountered. As an independent Afrobeat artist, I have confronted rejection and criticism. Nevertheless, I have persevered and translated these experiences into compositions. I am optimistic about including songs such as “Yik Yik” and “O Liberia” on the EP due to their significance and relevance to the hardships I have faced in college. The “Scorpio” EP encompasses themes designed to resonate with diverse audiences, inviting them to establish a personal connection with my lyrical content.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Angel Dweh, a Liberian American Afrobeat artist, singer-songwriter, and dancer. With origins in Liberia, Africa, I cultivated my early passion for performance art, particularly dance, within the confines of my parental home. Subsequently relocating to the United States, my participation in musical theater productions commenced. Notably, my inaugural songwriting endeavor transpired during my senior year of high school in 2019. The release of my first composition in 2020 garnered favorable feedback from both my peers and a global audience on YouTube, thereby catalyzing my prolific songwriting and independent release pursuits. In 2021, the successful release of my third musical piece facilitated the establishment of Lake Village Music LLC in the state of Pennsylvania, securing a platform for the dissemination and copyrighting of my musical creations. Throughout the years spanning from 2020 to 2024, the evolution of my musical career has enabled the recruitment of adept professionals to oversee the business operations of Lake Village Music LLC, consequently allowing me to concentrate on music composition and live performances for my devoted fanbase, “The Angels.”
I am grateful to my family for imparting to me the principles of ownership and the conviction that diligent effort can make anything achievable. Establishing my LLC was greatly facilitated by my father, Chris Collins. Although he did not provide the financial resources, he played a pivotal role in offering guidance throughout the LLC establishment process. He encouraged thorough research into the various facets of LLC ownership and prompted me to exhibit creativity in selecting a suitable name. When I attained the necessary capital to establish the LLC for my musical pursuits as an independent artist, my father rigorously reviewed all documentation before the submission of the LLC name for approval by the state of Pennsylvania. Upon successful approval, he emphasized the significance of ownership within the music industry and stressed its value, compelling me to further educate myself in this domain.
I am immensely proud of my dedicated team, whose tireless efforts have played an integral role in achieving numerous milestones. From my cousin Hilizbaby to my music engineer and stylist, each member has been indispensable. The presence of this team is of paramount importance as they unfailingly provide support and words of encouragement when needed. I must especially commend my stylist, whose exceptional abilities have made me feel divinely supported through both favorable and challenging situations, particularly in the absence of my mother.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist lies in observing one’s audience singing the lyrics to one’s compositions during a live performance. This experience fosters a profound sense of empowerment.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I have expanded my social media following by remaining authentic to my cultural heritage and personal identity rooted in Liberia, Africa. Through my musical compositions, I embed lyrics that enable my audience to form a cultural connection with Liberia.
I offer the advice to identify and showcase one’s unique attributes to foster a dedicated audience. By doing so, individuals can cultivate their following.
