We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Angel Boonthiam. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Angel below.
Alright, Angel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Starting my car detailing business all began when I was 16 and working as an electrician. The job was fine, but I got tired of being told what to do all the time. I wanted to be my own boss and do something I really enjoyed. That’s when I thought of starting a car detailing business. I could make cars look amazing, and I knew it would be something people would want here in Las Vegas.
I didn’t have a lot of money, but I took every dollar I had saved and spent it on equipment—pressure washers, vacuums, polishers, and all the supplies we needed. I asked my friends Zayed and Gio to help me out, and they were just as excited as I was. We had to figure things out as we went, but with hard work, we started to build a good reputation and get more clients. That’s how it all came together—just an idea, a bit of risk, and the support of friends.
From then on We made the name ZAG auto detailing which stands for Zayed, Ángel(me) and Gio. We took off from there
Angel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into car detailing because I wanted to build something for myself and make a difference for people who take pride in their vehicles. While I started out as an electrician, I quickly realized that detailing was where my passion was—I wanted to bring out the best in every car I touched. So, I put everything I had into building my business, and it’s been an incredible journey of growth and learning. What I offer now is a range of detailing services, from deep interior cleaning to exterior polishing, designed to make cars look their absolute best.
What sets my business apart is our commitment to quality and a personal touch. My friends and I treat each car like it’s our own, focusing on details that others might miss. I’m especially proud of how many happy clients we’ve built up over time. For anyone considering our services, I want them to know that we truly care about delivering top-notch results and making sure they drive away feeling great about their car. Our goal is to be more than just a service; we want to be the detailers people trust in Las Vegas.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I first started my detailing business, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but I didn’t expect just how much it would test my resilience. The hardest part was getting the money together for all the equipment we needed—pressure washers, polishers, vacuums, and the right cleaning products. At 16, I didn’t exactly have a lot saved up. I was still working as an electrician at the time, and every paycheck I got went straight into a savings jar. I stopped spending on anything extra so I could put every dollar toward the business. It was a challenge, but I was determined.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
After months of saving and some help from my family, I finally had enough to make my first big purchases. It wasn’t just about buying the tools; it felt like I was buying into my own future and the vision I had for my business. That experience taught me the value of hard work and sacrifice, and it made every job we took on feel worth it. Starting from scratch without loans or big investors was tough, but it gave me and my friends the pride of knowing that we built this business from the ground up.
